Why risk throwing it all away for something so stupid and petty?

I'm sure people asked Nixon that all the time.

We have zero idea if Christie knew about this, let alone authorized it.

I expect a return of townhall-style Christie as he addresses this. Is he going to take a hit? Surely. Could it be a big one? Yeah, depending on how much he knew and when. I don't think this will doom him.

Also, why would a Democratic mayor be expected to endorse a Republican governor? Am I missing something?

I think a lot of major Democratic officials endorsed Christie last year.

LOL!

Nothing says authentic straight shooter like an emailed statement blaming your staff.

If you think Gov. Christie wasn't involved in closing the lanes to the bridge, then I have a bridge to sell you.

— @zachbraff

Christie had no idea what his top aides were doing, but Obama was all up IN the IRS Cinicinnati office.

Funny thing I recall the same thing being said about Rudy in 2008.

"This (something that was weakening him in late 2007) will cause Rudy to take off the gloves and we will remmeber just why we loved him in the first place".

Because so many other machine Dems were. Not sure that it was "expected" but this wasn't your typical Republican vs. Democrat race, as you know.

Yeah. As far scandals it's now 3,000 to 1 in favor of Hillary.

Something doesn't add up. Gov. Christie and his buddy Wildstein and Baroni resigned awhile ago, you telling me he just found out the truth today align with the rest of us?

Btw, we deserve an apology for the govonors antics in the days following the original reporting on this story. He treated this all as a joke. No traffic cone jokes today govonor? Couldn't even build up the courage to face the press today, same press he just loves to talk down to.

Well....

The good news for CC is that if he manages this well he'll probably make it out alive. The initial response to the allegations is a good sign.

If by alive, you mean breathing... yes. Christie at a minimum is in deep trouble now, and should be facing manslaughter charges if its proven he knew about this fiasco.

Depends on how well he handles it IMO. I'm probably sounding like a moderate hero/concern troll, but it's hard to tell if he knew or ordered the fiasco (if it's proven he ordered the fiasco he should be throw in jail, even knowledge is comparable to Watergate at least.)

We know that before they became president that Clinton was called a thief and an adulterer, Bush was called a liar and a quack and that Obama was called a fraud and an anarchist, but were any one of them called a murderer?

Clinton was called a murderer for supposedly killing his friend, Bush and Iraq War, Obama and the drones.
All three are of course not murderers.

The problem for Christie is perception, a lot of voters simply won't buy that he knew nothing about this. Besides, Christie did appoint these people, so that calls into question his judgment even if you do subscribe to the notion that he knew nothing about it.

Then again, his opponents could handle this really poorly and make it harder for them to organize.
