He may still try to run for President, but he's dead in the water.

Well, he may still recover by 2016 and most likely will.

But he's now downgraded to "Generic Republican" and this bridge thing can be held against him in the primaries and general.

But you never know how life plays out and he may actually be popular again in 2016 ... Tongue

I'm not sure he is out, but he can say goodbye to that Democratic crossover vote. Even if he himself ordered the closure, members of his staff and his appointees did meaning he hired people who thought this was a acceptable behavior.

It might blow off but it's a serious chink in his armor.

Remember when W's DWI was going to sink him?  Yeah.   He's in.  What TG said, he's not wired to bow out of anything.  He'll tell everyone to f[inks] off and not discuss it anymore.

I still think that Christie's personality is a bigger problem for him than Bridgeghazi.  Like I said, Christie is probably dwindling from Giuliani-tier status.

Americans have very short memories. While this will hurt him, I'm not convinced it will be a fatal blow.

Caveat: If he ends up getting further implicated and knowing about it. That will sink him for sure.

No, he's not out.

He'll tell everyone to f[inks] off and not discuss it anymore.

Or he'll double-down and go on the offensive, trying to spin it as his opponents making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Way too early to tell. In a month or so, we'll have a better idea.

If Christie is too tarnished by this to run, the Republicans are basically screwed in 2016. They've purged just about anyone who can win an election outside a red state or a heavily gerrymandered CD.

Jeb Bush isn't going to cut it. Maybe when his grand kids are grown and enough Americans who remember his brother are dead, one of them can run.

Who else do they have ? Ted Cruz? Rick Santorum? Mitt Romney  v3.0? Rick Perry? Paul Ryan?

This is how I see it as well.  It's definitely something to keep an eye on, but it is still 2 years before Iowa.  It will be gone before the Mid-Term Primary Season begins.

I hope he's not out, but if so, does anyone think it makes Huntsman more likely to run? They kind of occupied the same space ideologically.

UK's Channel 4 just basically said that Christie's like something out of The Sopranos. haha

And I'm waiting for a primary ad with "I'm Not a Bully" vs. "I'm not a crook".

He is so done.

This is the first Republican scandal that's actually gotten serious media coverage since who knows when. Bush and Romney scandals were never really covered, unlike this.

I live near a big city. Traffic jams affect us. This isn't going to help Christie. At all.
