Norway score off a powerplay to make it 2-1, but Canada scores a minute later to restore their advantage. Sad

Ah Yevgeny Sad   His back was hurting so he left the ice without competing, while Russia showed their appreciation. At least he helped Russia win the team event before his retirement.

Jeremy Abbott's performance after his side slammed into the ice was incredible.

Felix Neureuther involved in car accident on way to airport

Munich (dpa) - German alpine skiing star Felix Neureuther was involved in a car accident Friday morning on the way to the airport to compete at the Sochi Olympics.

A spokesman for the German Skiing Federation said the slalom world championship silver medallist was being examined in Munich for a possible case of whiplash.

Initial details of the accident were not known but Neureuther did not board the plane to Sochi.

Neureuther is regarded as a strong medals candidate in slalom and giant slalom. He has three World Cup victories in the current season.

Sad

Hopefully nothing serious and I hope he's back soon.

4 Aussie women in the Aerials final, all genuine medal chances. The Chinese are probably stronger though, except that we have reigning Gold medallist, Lydia Lassila, who wipes out a lot more than most, but also goes for the biggest jumps. if she lands them, she wins... but *if* it a real question.

It's most likely the end of the road for Plushenko. Sad end for such a great person for his sport (and sad for the Russian crowd). I was also impressed by Abbott managing to do so well after his very bad fall. I suppose than adrenaline and endorphines allowed it, it soothed the pain.

I'm also quite happy of the Canadian Chan (2nd after the short) and was impressed by the japanese leader. So young and so close of perfection.

Lasilla got a bronze, which means our last realistic gold chance is Chumpy Pullin in the Men's Snowboard Cross.

At least we finally got another medal. And our hockey teams haven't lost yet, and the men's curling team has picked it up. Beat Norway today, big time!

Yeah, I saw it last night/this morning. Good win.

I mean, I guess I have no right to be disappointed because I'll never win a medal for Canada, but it's just tough. I love how the CBC commentators always hype up so-and-so Canadian athlete before they make their run like they're expected to win a medal, and then immediately after the run they begin downplaying expectations and making excuses for the atheletes. I know it's tough to win a medal and I totally understand that sometimes it's just not a winning day for the competitors... but come on, CBC. Do you expect us to forget that just five minutes ago you were overinflating expectations? Do you expect us to not recognize a disappointment? It just makes me laugh.

Finally, some more Gold and Bronze today for us.

(picture)

Do you mean Salzburg or Austria.

The latter, because the Gold medal by Anna Fenninger is the first medal at all for Salzburg so far.

The current medal breakdown by state is like this:

Salzburg: 1x Gold
Carinthia: 1x Gold
Tyrol: 3x Silver, 1x Bronze
Styria: 1x Silver

Might be in for a medal in the men's aerials - David Morris has made the final 4, and still has a quintuple jump in his repertoire, so if he lands it would be very unlucky not to get a medal.

Ski jumping team event looking good for us so far ...

After 5 of 8 jumps, we are 1st.

But everything is still possible: Gold, Silver and Bronze - because Germany and Japan are close behind.
