Although I do not support all of your proposals, in particular your marijuana insanity, still endorsed.

I know I'm no longer a citizen of your great region, Dallasfan, but if I may, I'd like to ask you a question.

The Governor recently signed a bill repealing significant parts of the education law that was passed last year - namely, the section which requires private schools to enroll students regardless of their ability to pay.  The absence of this section will inevitably allow private schools to deny enrollment to students whose parents cannot afford to pay tuition.  If elected, how would your administration respond to this tragedy?

My apologies, Scott.

While I don't know a great deal about education, perhaps the Assembly could work on a voucher program for the economically disadvantaged?

The bill more or less made private schools - public. It needed to be changed. I'm open to discussing a voucher program.

Chief Judicial Officer Dallasfan65, exiting his Campaign El Camino to Higher Love by Steve Winwood.

Though a bit premature, it seems as if I will be the next Governor of the Northeast.

I understand that I had no formal opposition going into election day, due to Earthling's unfortunate departure from Atlasia. That being said, I would like to offer my sincerest gratitude to all of you who offered your support for me. Now, the onus is upon me not to disappoint you all.

Melodrama is often a politician's best friend. However, I shall spare you all the usual platitudes: "the Northeast is at a crossroads", "there are difficult times ahead", et cetera. I think that Governor sirnick's stewardship of the region has been superb. In addition, Northeast has seen not only a recent influx of population growth, but also an increase in civic participation. Though Deus Naturae is a relative newcomer, I must applaud his activity in the Northeast Assembly, as well as his willingness to compromise. We've also seem some old greats of the Northeast make a return - Cinyc, Winfield, Napoleon, and Cincinnatus. Let us not forget that Averroes Nix has also returned to the region, though I do not know what capacity he plans to act in.

In short, I have been around in Atlasia long enough to see some dismal levels of activity, and I must say that I am most hopeful for the future of our region. Smiley

Just a friendly reminder that the Northeast Assembly election will be taking place from April 17th to April 20th. (woo! #420) Either myself or Nix will be administering the voting booth.

Those who are interested are encouraged to run.

I'll be making a statement on endorsements at a later date when the field is more visible.

Governor Dallasfan65 appearing via Skype.

"Pass good laws, good things happen. Pass bad laws, bad things happen."

Greetings, good people of the Northeast! I'm speaking with you to remind you once more that the Northeast Assembly Election will be taking place, this Thursday (the 17th.) Unfortunately, if my understanding of the constitution is correct, the deadline for declarations has already passed. This leaves us with three declared candidates for the Assembly: Napoleon, Deus Naturae, and SomebodyWhoExists.

It is my regret to say that cinyc won't be seeking reelection. While he and I probably agreed the least on bills being debated in the Assembly, he was a good public servant and the Northeast ran like a well-oiled machine during his speakership. It is my hope, however, that he makes a return at some point.

I'm not a member of the legislative branch at this juncture, but I nonetheless have some vested interest in getting a good Assembly to work with. That being said, here are my personal endorsements:

Deus Naturae - Deus Naturae is a relative newcomer to Atlasia. However, despite his short stint, he has been very active in the Assembly - not only proposing his own legislation, but seeking to amend and trim the fat from previous passed bills. Also, as my Lieutenant Governor, he has been pretty diligent in updating the Northeast Statute page. Deus has strong convictions, but has been willing to compromise and more often than not has gotten a majority of the Assembly to agree in the name of more effective government.

Napoleon - Napoleon is an old friend of mine. Despite a somewhat checkered past, it is my belief that Napoleon is a stellar legislator. During my tenure as Governor, he was instrumental in tackling the issue of bail reform, and has been an active participant on other legislation. In addition, considering his past service to the Northeast region, it's a no-brainer in my mind that he ought to be reelected for another term.

SWE
- SWE has provided good input in the Northeast Assembly, has been pleasant to work with, and has been an active contributor. I think that newbies are an integral part of the Atlasian political process, and that SWE deserves another term.

While we only have three candidates, there will be five seats to fill, meaning that two write-ins could be elected to the Assembly. I encourage any citizens interested in serving to accept write-ins, but I'll also be taking a proactive approach and will try to scout out some talent.

Way cool. Grin The election already happened, though there is an acute possibility of me running for reelection.

Anywho, I have some legislative proposals. I'm going to hold off on putting them in the queue until after the election, since as I understand it any such legislation would have to be re-introduced.

The election is over. Though I will have to do a tabulation in earnest, the winners seem obvious. Congratulations to SWE, Napoleon, Deus, Sirnick, and BaconBacon.

Also, I would like to offer my congratulations to my good friend shua, who was reelected.
