There are so many American men like this second most famous Chicagoan.
So what do his living images behave like politically?
It would also be interesting to consider if he'd vote different today.

This is what I imagine Al Bundy's political trajectory being...

* voted for Reagan and for Bush in '88
* voted for Clinton twice
* voted for Gore in 2000
* didn't vote in 2004; viewed Bush as a rich man's president who only cared about giving tax cuts to the wealthy even though people in his neighborhood were still out of work after the '02 recession; thought Kerry was an effete phony
* voted for McCain in 2008 because he admired his "straight talk" and military service and felt he could relate to Sarah Palin's downscale family and their various personal problems
* turned very anti-Obama and sympathetic to the Tea Party in 2009 and 2010
* voted for Romney in 2012 but basically viewed Romney as the lesser of two evils

Definitely a non-voter.  Views himself as doomed no matter what.  Unless a politician tried to ban "Big 'Uns" magazine, then he'd become a precinct organizer.

Having seen all 259 episodes of Married... with Children (and MwC being one of my all-time favourite TV shows), I think Al Bundy would be a Libertarian, for the following reasons:

  • He and his fellow NO MA'AM buddies rallied against a beer tax.
  • Al is very fond of his Big 'Uns magazines and nudie bars, much to the chagrin of not only Peggy, but feminists and social conservatives alike.
  • Al loves his traditional American food, meaning he would hate the likes of Michael Bloomberg.
  • Al would also hate wasteful spending, look at how much he hates it when Peggy spends his money on bon-bons and home shopping!

So, Al is supposed to not have voted for Bush in 2004 as he saw him "as a rich man's president who only cared about giving tax cuts to the wealthy", but voted for Romney in 2012? Really?

Emphasis on "lesser of two evils." I was on the fence about him either voting for Romney or just sitting out the election. Could have gone either way but he certainly would not have voted for Obama.

Al Bundy voted for McCain in 2008 after having watched Nailin' Palin. Otherwise, he's usually just a non-voter.

I could see Al Bundy supporting Dems, GOPs, or Libertarians, but considering that he lives in the Chicago suburbs, I suspect he would be a Democrat or a Dem-leaning Independent (more likely the latter.)  He probably would have mostly supported Republicans when Married With Children started, and I suspect he would have supported Reagan twice and then Bush I in 1988.  But starting with the Clinton realignment in 1992, I think he would have voted for all Democrats in presidential elections.  I suspect he would have split his tickets, though, and supported a number of Republicans in state and local elections.  I imagine he would have voted for Jim Edgar twice and George Ryan for IL Gov, but voted for Blagojevich and Quinn in 2002-2010.  He definitely would be open to supporting more moderate Republicans in Illinois (like Mark Kirk), but I suspect he would have also been a big supporter of Mayor Daley (the younger.)

Overall, my original opinion stands.  Independent, but leans Democrat.

Probably some form of conservative Independent. A lot of the time he wouldn't bother voting, and when he does I'd expect him to lean towards the incumbent.

This does seem to make an awfully huge amount of sense.

Libertarians only exist on the internet. No one is a libertarian in the real world.

The question always on my mind is, of course, "But who would Ted Bundy vote for?"

Ever met anyone who calls themself a libertarian in the real world? They somehow manage to be even more insufferable.

After the raising of the beer tax in 1992, Al Bundy doesn't vote anymore.

EDIT: This video answers the question.

AFTER the fact, I think he would have supported Clinton in '96 because of the horn-dog reputation, then been GOP until 2008, maybe flirting with Obama because the home-town support, but would have shifted back to the GOP in '12 Tongue

Please. Al Bundy wouldn't ever use the internet for anything other than porn and videos of guys gettng hit in the nuts.

Decided non-voter. Too low info to care, and wouldn't want to risk getting called for jury duty.
