Arne Duncan resigning, will run for D.C Mayor in 2014

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan has announced his resignation effective July 31, 2017, and has also announced that he has filed an "exploratory committee" to run for Mayor of Washington D.C in 2018. He said that "due the fine work he has done over the years with Presidents Obama and Clinton, the Nation's Education system in a better place than at any point in our Nation's history.

President Clinton has moved with relative speed to find a replacement for outgoing Education Secretary Arne Duncan, nominating New York Education Commissioner, John King to the position. However given his ardent support of the unpopular Common Core initiative, Anderson Cooper openly questioned on AC360 earlier this evening whether he'd get support from either party, while both Bill O'Reilly (Fox News) and Luke Russert (MSNBC) both stated that they fought he would be rejected by a large margin, with O'Reilly saying that "Clinton's marital soap opera has affected her judgement" while Rachel Maddow (MSNBC) said "Hillary Clinton needs to primaried in 2020... It was a mistake to elect her, and we won't be fooled three times".

King confirmed by Senate in divisive vote

For the first time, Vice-President Jay Nixon was needed to break a tie vote, as the Senate deadlocked 48-48 on the nomination of New York Secretary of Education John King to become Secretary of Education. Bernie Sanders (VT) voted with Republicans in opposition of the nomination, while Senators Casey(PA) and Madigan (IL) voted present. Senators Gillibrand (NY) and Wasserman Schultz (FL) were not present.

Kelly to resign as NSA adviser

Ray Kelly announced his resignation as National Security Adviser today, stating that Hillary Clinton was knowledgeable enough on foreign and domestic affairs, that he felt that there was nothing he could advise her on. Clinton has accepted the resignation with deep regret and said that Kelly would stay on until Halloween or a replacement is named, whichever comes first.

It was supposed a simple photo opportunity with a Siberian Tiger, 141 Kilometers of Khabarovsk, Russia for President Vladimir Putin. Instead it turned into a disaster as the Tiger mauled the Russian President, resulting in his death at age sixty-three. Funeral arrangements have not been released to Russian or Western Media. Demitry Medvedev will be named interim President ahead of the 2018 elections.
