Lankford raised $850K since April with $730K CoH. Nothing from Shannon yet.

Shannon raised $626k w/330k COH.

Sooner Poll director thinks Shannon has the advantage in what he sees as a rural-urban battle, with rural voters preferring Shannon.

Lankford released an internal showing him up 41/34. In May that was 43/33.

"Shannon... stopped President Obama's Medicaid expansion."

It still blows my mind that conservatives are actually proud of their efforts to keep poor people from receiving healthcare.

What blows my mind even more is that so many of those people who were denied healthcare will still proudly vote Republican.

Shannon also out with a 30-second TV-ad (I guess):

Apparently Shannon's hammering the Tulsa media market with those two ads for the next week. Smart move since OKC is Lankford territory.

What do you think will happen next week?

I live in Tulsa, and our market is flooded with mostly pro-Shannon ads.  I see a few pro-Lankford ads, but mostly pro-Shannon ads.

If I lived in Oklahoma, I would vote for Lankford.

Just putting that out there.

Looks like the race should go to a runoff between Lankford and TW Shannon.  The question then is: where will Randy Brogdon's supporters go?

Most of Brogdon's supporters will go for Shannon, since he is supposedly the Tea Party candidate in this race.

This is lack of party discipline at work. The party grandees know it would be good for the party for Shannon to win. Yet they aren't able to make this Lankford fellow see this and act in the good of the party.

I disagree. A Shannon win does nothing for the GOP. The only thing he has ever accomplished is being a black Republican. Lankford, however, has a real conservative resume, and a proven record of advocacy for Oklahomans and conservative values.

For what it's worth, I'm still willing to bet that Shannon will ultimately win the primary.

From what little I've read, local & national folks from both establishment & TP are divided. Dunno if that may be a reason for the close race.

Is there any particular reason you changed your username and your avatar?

Yes, actually., thanks for asking. I am originally from Alabama, but I've lived in Maryland for the past few years. I moved back to AL yesterday, so I wanted my avatar to reflect that.

Unfortunately, I will be unable to vote as I stupidly forgot to sign my voter's registration when I sent it in in May.  I sent it back in with my signature so hopefully I can vote if there's a runoff and definitely in the general.  If I could vote in the primary, I would be voting for James Lankford.  I don't understand why TW Shannon had to resort to all attack ads against Lankford and very little talk about his own record as House Speaker of the Oklahoma Legislature.  He's finally got a positive ad doing just that with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) endorsing him with no attacks on Lankford.

You've probably already addressed this somewhere but why, if you're "a Bible thumpin liberal", are you registering Republican and supporting Lankford?

Lankford is a social conservative.

I'm actually registering Democrat, but I know Lankford personally from his days at Falls Creek.  He is one of the few Republicans I am supporting this November.  Plus, as Dixiecrat mentioned he is a social conservative like I am.  I lean Democrat on fiscal issues, and I am more of a fiscal issues voter.

I think Lankford places 1st on Tuesday, but I can't see him winning a runoff with Shannon.
