Think SLD has the biggest downfall from power in 2005? No, that honor goes to AWS, which in four years went from winning an election to getting purged from the Sejm altogether (as AWSP).

AWSP performance in 2001:

AWS, good that they are dead : )

Oh, and also: great maps.
What software do you used to draw them?

Thanks.

I'll probably get crucified by our fellow mapmakers for unprofessionalism, but I've simply uploaded a template of districts and I'm changing shades on MS PAINT.

Better download GIMP, you will see - it's better than Paint (which I still love and use sometimes).

Inspired by much more talented and hardworking users I decided to once again try to make some more maps. As I am very, very lazy person it took some time but in the end I was able to force myself to work more on my map-making abilities. I continue to present data from 1922, 1928, 1930 elections as I was able to be 100% sure when presenting on map electoral districts and even smaller parts of electoral districts (local electoral commissions) for elections from these years. All necessary for people who are not experts in Polish interbellum politics description is included in Deviantart notes under maps (links included). I would be very, very grateful for any comments, critique etc. I want to know what I am doing good and what wrong.

I started some time ago uploading maps on WikiCommons but stopped to do that because lack of time but maybe as I still have summer holiday I will manage to do some more. Maybe you are interested in some particular party? (I know that no one will answer)

As a friend of mine started dating a woman from Rzészow, I would be interested in a history of that region's votes over time.

Well, I am a little bit lazy but to be honest it is really hard to show votes over time in modern Polish history. As for Interbellum period we have only two legislative elections which were fully democratic and two somehow democratic. Period 1945-1988 cant really be shown on the map and results can't really tell anything. As for post-1989 elections everything is on wiki/Internet.

As for the Interwar it was stronghold of peasant parties (in 1928 all peasant parties got jointly 53%[as for the Rzeszów county 52%], in 1922 62% of all votes as for the district[60% as for the county]). In 1930 Centrolew list in this district was banned so we can't tell if sum of support for peasant parties increased or decreased in semi-authoritarian environment.

The only major shift/change is loss of support of PSL "Piast" which in 1922 won overwhelmingly over other parties and in that district had almost no competition among other parties and other peasant parties (they got 5 out of 7 mandates). In 1928 PSL "Piast" in coalition with Christian Democracy got only one mandate (out of 7) and major beneficent of their loses were Stronnictwo Chłopskie, which was fusion of one splinter party from PSL "Wyzwolenie" (and even before PSL Piast) and one splinter group from PSL "Piast" (although some of the votes were also taken by BBWR). I guess that such shift was caused by dissatisfaction connected with PSL "Piast" collaboration with National Democracy and generally parties of great landowners and landed gentry while peasant parties were representing mainly peasants, which weren't probably happy with that.

Is the seemingly ever-lasting divide following the former German Empire's borders due to German influence and infrastructure, or to the Polish people being resettled there from the east after 1945?

Second one.

Resettlement after 1945 only reinforced this, but it cannot have been the main factor, because why would Greater Poland (i.e. the region around Poznań) be a "liberal" stronghold otherwise? I mean, it was majority Polish even before 1918 and most of it became part of Poland after WWI.

And why would Warsaw be another liberal stronghold? There are various reasons why people are voting PO and not PiS. As for the territory which was German before 1945 population changes are more important than how the economic situation looked before the war -mainly because a little of what was there before 1945 was there after the 1945 - including economic relations, population, customs, religion etc. And resettlement is main reason, population which migrated from other parts of pre-war Poland, they were usually separated from their traditional communities what usually make any sort of social changes easier. Also after the war those parts of Poland had younger population and in such places communist authorities had easier job in influencing society, much easier in places where role of traditional communities was still big (parents, Church etc.). Other thing that before II World War Greater Poland was also well developed, at least compared with other parts of country. They were always voting different than the rest of the country, and they were always richer than former Russian or Austrian partition. And collectivization wasn't strong there. Nowadays they are pretty rich, have low unemployment (5%) and generally have not that much reasons to vote on PiS which is pro-social as for the economic issues. I guess proximity of Germany also somehow influence that.
