In comparison to other reelections, 2004 was close.
The economy was recovering from the 2001 recession, unemployment was falling, GDP grew 4% in 2004, 09/11/2001...

Did Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 911 have some influence on the result of the election?

Sometimes, Michael Moore is like a priest who convince only the people who already go to his church. He has an audience that is already liberal before watching his documentaries.

But what about the stories about the ties between Bush and Bin Laden families or about Bush behavior after the attacks. Did they have some impact on non-partisan voters?

Yes, in fact it did what the 911 commission didnt do, reprimand Bush for going on Vacation during the critical moment in American history. However, Bush arm around that firefighter and Bin Laden tape insulated him from election defeat. But it did in fact help Kerry.

I always thought that Michael Moore and "Fahrenheit 9/11" actually hurt John Kerry's election prospects in 2004.

Like pretty much anything that wasn't an action by one of the candidates themselves or the core fundamentals, a negligible effect either way.

He created a core group of followers so that in the next prez election, the occupy Wallstreet crowd ensured that McCain or Romney didn't get in, in addt to setting the terms of 2004, in which a popular GOP incumbant barely won reelection.

It also helped the Bush supporters strawman political opponents as kooky krisp conspiracy theorists.

If you want to argue long term effects, there was a lot more that went into the buildup of the activist left than Michael Moore (lol).
