I doubt anything will come of this, but like most Jersey politicians, Senator Menendez ethical issues.

Is being corrupt a prerequisite for a New Jersey politician now?

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Not just now. What I'm more curious about is when this reputation started, actually.

If he has to resign, I hope it's at least after Christie and his LG do.

Speaking as an ex-Jerseyan, yes.

Whose going to run against Menendez in 2018?

Christie isn't going to because he wants to run for President in 2016

Tom Kean Jr is the first name that comes to mind. Maybe Runyan if he gets the political itch.

Kind of a shame, I've liked the job he's been doing as Committee Chairman. Pallone is probably the frontrunner to succeed him, no?

He came in 2nd in the last primary, but who knows how many Booker supporters would've voted for him or would've voted for Holt had Booker not been in the race.

Personally, I'd prefer Holt.

It's looks kind of like that, but I never heard of Lautenberg being corrupt.

Didn't he have so much money that no one bothered to bribe him?

I doubt Pallone will go for this seat if he gets Wexler's spot on Energy and Commerce.

POLL: Would you rather?
- Would you rather...
-- Menendez resigns in February of 2014. We have to deal with another Christie appointee in the Senate until a special election in June/July.
-- Menendez does not resign, but in Summer and Fall of 2014 wrongdoing is uncovered, causing embarrassment for Democrats during the throes of the Midterm election.

Our legislative politics are exceptionally dirty and corrupt, but I've always wondered if that's an NJ thing or more a function of lower-level state politics in general. Any non-New Jerseyans wanna chime in?

I've always felt like certain areas of the state produce especially corrupt politicians (Menendez's own Hudson County is notorious), but unfortunately they also seem to be the ones who always get nominated -______- Not that there's not a connection there, of course.

It's all a shame really, because Menendez is one of my more-favored congressional Dems.

Hopefully my Congressman, Frank Pallone, will take over if Menendez ends up resigning from his seat.
