Ugh.  Stupid lawyers.  While we will never know if he was innocent or not, the prosecutors were concerned based on statements made while in custody that he was a suicide risk.  Which is understandable regardless if he was innocent or guilty.  After all, even if he did end up with an acquittal, his political career was over.  But no, his lawyers insisted that wasn't a problem.

I know we like to pretend we operate under a system of "innocent until proved guilty" but this one was pretty cut and dry, no?
