"Sage" is a term now being used to demean posters who actually try to contribute and share their thoughts, however disorganized they may be.

No, completely inaccurate.  Those who are deemed sage don't do it involuntarily, it's out of complete malice.  The big truths and key words (eg. fascist, hegemon, neoliberal, so on and so forth..) lower the quality of their argument.  kemp recently put it best, "i've never seen nothing said in so many words".
