There are over a dozen names floating around for the GOP field. But some are showing little or limited interest and others have hurdles to overcome or possible alternative jobs/campaigns to give up. And of course there are always family/personal reasons to deal with.

So in the end what is your best guess at the field?

Scott Walker
Marco Rubio (but might instead focus on senate seat, and end up being on the VP shortlist)
Peter King
Rand Paul
Nikki Haley
Bobby Jindal

Four of these are from the South. Smiley

I actually think that of the "third tier" candidates (those who tend not be included in the polls, like Carson and King), Bolton is probably the most likely to run.  Carson and King might just be floating the idea of running for president in order to generate media interest.  Bolton seems to be unable to generate any media interest just by floating the idea.  He'll actually have to run, in order to get anyone to notice him.

And why do people think that Haley will run?  She made one visit to Michigan last year, but otherwise hasn't really done anything to suggest an interest in running in '16.

This is tough. There are a handful who are more likely to run than not. There are also a few potential top-tier candidates who individually have a low chance of running, but it's pretty likely that someone from the group will make a go of it.

Pretty Much Running...
Senator Rand Paul
Soon to be former Governor Bobby Jindal
Senator Ted Cruz
Soon to be former Governor Rick Perry
Former Senator Rick Santorum

Likely Running...(I'd bet on 2 of the 3 being on the debate stage)
Governor Scott Walker
Governor Chris Christie
Governor John Kasich

Potential Top-Tier Candidates (Someone from the group will probably run)...
Former Governor Jeb Bush
Senator Marco Rubio
Congressman Paul Ryan
Former Governor Mike Huckabee
Former Governor Mitt Romney

Because the party will want at least one woman on the debate stage, someone from this group is probably going to run...
Governor Susanna Martinez
Senator Kelly Ayotte
Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice
Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers
Governor Mary Fallin

Then there are the second-tier candidates, who start out with low name recognition, but hope to get to the top. I think we'll see some of these guys, although they might all decide that there's no opportunity to stand out in a group with the likes of Ted Cruz, Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, Paul Ryan, Rand Paul and Condoleeza Rice (to give a hypothetical line-up).
Congressman Darrell Issa
Senator John Thune
Senator Mike Lee
Former Governor Jon Huntsman

I just don't see a respected doctor running for President, so Ben Carson's probably out. Herman Cain's success will probably draw a few political gadflys although it may be tougher this time around. It's difficult for anyone on the fringe to top Cruz.
If I had to guess one of the Republican congressman who voted against Boehner as speaker will run. I recognize Tim Heulskamp's name the most, but it could be any of the others. There's also chatter about Allen West. I'd also count Palin and Bolton in this category.

F**k the field is as weak as piss. Walker and Jindal the only candidates who are halfway respectable.

Now I see why some Pubbies are jumping on the Romney bandwagon again Tongue

Christie*
Paul
Cruz
Rubio
Walker
Jindal
Santorum

*I've also started to become iffy on Christie. Unless the fallout from his scandals get really bad, I think he'll still attempt a run, but it is simply to early to say with certainity how bad things will get for him over the next year.

I am leaning towards Christie running. I forgot to include him. I also think Allen West might run if he decides Rubio is too strong to primary.

In total order of finish:

Walker
Cruz
Fallin
Paul
Bush
Santorum
Carson
King (Peter)

Walker will be able to position himself as the sane alternative to the Tea Party parade and cruise to victory. Fallin will be the big surprise. Bush will have a big boomlet when he enters, but will be relentlessly hammered for his name/background and fall by the wayside. Paul will basically repeat his father's performance, but win a few states in the process.
