Reagan.

FDR made too many mistakes (internment, tax increases, court packing, Yalta) to get my vote.  Reagan's only "mistake" (Iran-Contra) is something I approved of anyway.

FDR got 98.57% there in 1936.

Reagan originally was a Democrat, supporting both FDR and Truman.  He campaigned against Nixon in a 1950 senate race, joined Democrats for Eisenhower in 1952, and campaigned for Nixon in the 1960 election.  He changed his voting registration in 1962.

Easy choice - my favorite twentieth century president against my least favorite.  Reagan for me.

I see.

This is tough because they were both great presidents. I'll say Reagan though because he didn't have to take on communism as he did, while World War II was kind of thrust upon FDR.

My present view is that both had their bad points, and neither was sufficiently socially liberal, but certainly FDR was the better of two.

Reagan, though he's not the greatest thing since sliced bread. He's far better with economics than pinko FDR ever was.

Reaganomics just might be the worst thing to happen to America since FDR.

Reagan also applied for Communist Party membership, but they didn't accept him because they thought he changed his views too easily.

You didn't even tell the best version of that myth.

Why is everyone here so fond of Reaganomics? Unless everyone here belongs to the top 1% of the income class, it benefits no one. Going from the world's greatest creditor to largest debtor nation, propelling urban poverty and falling behind in the largest income per capita (why did the United States fall behind West Germany and Great Britain in average income per capita under Reagan?) all doesn't really speak for this economic system. Lowering the wealthy's taxes and cutting a number of welfare programs while waging the largest spending in history is bound to produce problems. Basically fractions of the astronomical amounts spent primarily on defense come from the poor's pockets who in return have their benefits obliterated. So unless, as stated, you belong to the upper income class that gets to keep some of their superfluous money, you must be prone to some kind of masochism to support this system.
