Although we are in the interesting position of having a chairman on leave of absence, no vice chairman, and no secretary. So I'm not sure when these votes will get counted. Tongue

Slight déjà vu...

If the intent of the Vice President was to be humorous, it sure fell flat.

Gentlemen, I wish to inquire what the point of even having this primary vote is, if we cannot even have elections free of ridicule. I wouldn't have had to make my humorless speech if my vote wasn't to be scrutinized by the general public. Especially if our goal here is to emulate an actual convention. It's not as if the particular member who scrutinized my decision would have known my exact vote at an actual convention anyhow, so I don't see why said member felt the need to scrutinize my vote. Anyway I'll shut up now and allow the vote to continue.

Because this is a center party, and you just voted for a socialist?
I support choosing someone else as VP, like Spiral, if the President chose him I would vote for the ticket. Plus, there would be less competition for us in the general election.

When the person you voted for holds positions completely opposite of the Federalists, attacks the party, and calls us the far-right, you're going to get scrutinized for your vote.

The vote has now ended - congratulations to Lumine on winning the Federalist Party endorsement! Smiley

At this time, I don't believe any official action is needed until after the elections when bylaws are discussed and new party leaders are voted on. That being said, due to personal events in my life, I will be resigning as Chairman of the Federalist Party, effective immediately.

I give my sincere thanks to the Federalist Party for their endorsement, and I look forward to work with this party's Senators if I manage to win this election. Thank you very much!

Do we have a clear answer to the question, "who is in charge here?"

Yes. A similar situation basically destroyed the Whig Party back in the fall of 2012, so I included a section for succession snafus in our by-laws. I'm on my phone now so it's difficult to hunt down the exact wording, but I was looking at the by-laws just yesterday... So I am positive we have a prescription for a solution.

If we find ourselves in the position of having no leaders, our senior-most senator will be in charge of running elections to fill the vacancies. That would be Yankee. He's aware of this responsibility, but I think he's waiting until the election is over, which kind of makes sense. Don't need any hubbub or distractions. I know the candidates are working hard to get out the vote, do the ship is still running as smoothly as possible under the circumstances. It's all good.

Yes, considering we are doing our best to get our people out, pushing them over the edge with PMs about leadership elections might cost votes. A lot people are getting contacted by several different candidates right now and surrogates working on behalf of the candidates and I have learned through numerous bad experiences that you never know who will be pushed over the edge and do something crazy (like go out and vote for other party or something. It has happened).

So yeah, long story short, I am waiting until tomorrow.

There are several people working on turnout for several races, beyond the candidates also so I don't expect a gap of effort on GOTV. It does appear though that there is a severe problem with effectiveness that may be the effect of poor advance coordination or possibly the loss of a familiar face (Maxwell/Tmth) who they are used to being contacted by. That needs to be addressed, especially in advance of the special election next weekend.

Goldwater appears to have given 48 hours in August, with no specific time given in December.

I am therefore going to give 48 hours for nominations/declarations for Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Federalist Party.

I would be interested in Vice Chairman. Nothing higher and at the time, nothing lower.

At this point I think I'll be running for vice-chair as well.

Well, just as I addressed the Democratic Republicans and the Radical Gay Party, I wish to formally request the endorsement of the Federalist Party as well. Many members of this party encouraged me to run, saying that there was a chance, and that I could very well be a legitimate choice for this party and for center-right voters. As of the current field, I think that my ideological beliefs are more than compatible with this party, and I hope to be able to count on your support.
