100.000 Francs for Suarez is like me paying 10€ ... Tongue

And they should have banned the sucker for at least a year.

Suarez banned for 9 international matches and banned from all play for four months. Oh, and fined 100k (Swiss Francs, FIFA's inhouse currency).

That's hardly toothless.

Nice choice of words. Wink

Anyways, considering this sort of behavior in almost any setting would likely get him in jail, it's clearly far less than what he deserves.

Disgusting over-reaction. If he had tackled the guy and broken his leg he would get a fraction of that punishment. But FIFA needs to punish a scapegoat.

I'm not in shape for games like this, but I'll take a 0-0 tie at the half.

No, you can tell the Germans and Americans are trying to score.

Actually Ghana scored an autogoal. Shame, I was hoping Ghana would win...

Whatever.  We certainly need that now that Germany just scored.

Yeah.  We still go thru if no more goals are scored.  If we score one that should be enough to see us thru, even if Germany scores again.

Question for those of you who follow football more regularly than I do.  When it's raining as it is in the Germany-US game, does that generally help the defense or the offense?

I'll concede that the US has genuinely impressed in this group stage and deserves to go forward (though Ghana arguably does just as much). Deserving means little in football though. I have nothing but respect for the USMNT--my rooting against them was me wanting to see the fair-weather fans who only watch during the World Cup and only when the US plays to feel some pain.

Hope that Algeria can pull out of the group stage (and beat Germany as sweet revenge for 1982 Tongue).

Congrats USA! Smiley I've never actually managed to see them play (French TV broadcast the Ghana-Portugal one instead) but they seem to have achieved a more than honorable result against (theoretically) strong opponents. I'd have preferred Ghana to qualify, but still I'm glad to see them advance.

No, we don't. The team is full of selfish egotists- I am just realising this, like everyone else- and a team like that doesn't deserve to go anywhere. Here's the genius who scored the own goal kissing his freshly flown in money:
