It must surely add to the humiliation that they still have to play a now meaningless match.

Beautiful result! This is what true fans of the game have been waiting six years for. Today, attacking football triumphed over defensive keep-away. Today, humility triumphed over arrogance. Today, fair play triumphed over cynicism and diving. Today, simply, football triumphed. God willing, we will never have to suffer through this horrible little team again.

Onwards to the 23rd, when Australia will complete the humiliation.

I hope Australia finish them off.

Oh come on. Spaniards have been some of the least flamboyant and egotistical champions ever (and it was pretty blatantly Chile whose strategy consisted of wasting time in the second half).

Mexico and Brazil shall avenge us, of course.

To be fair to Spain, it has been generally their opponents who've resorted to cynicism and defensive keep-away. When this didn't happen (see the last Euro final) Spain has proven that they can play some pretty good attacking football. Of course this doesn't to the pale shadow that appeared during this world cup.

It's absolutely refreshing to know that Tiki-Taka is dead and buried now.

But I would agree with Del Bosque's analysis; Spain deserved to go out despite our efforts and the Dutch and Chileans were the better teams. Spain will need reforming of its play style (and yes, the end of tiki-taka, at least as we know it) and probably a lot of new blood, but I have confidence in the future.

A couple of fun facts:

The next two opponents Germany will face are Ghana and the United States.

In the first match, the team of Jerome Boateng (Germany) will be pitted against the team of his brother Kevin-Prince Boateng (Ghana).

In the second match, the team of German national coach Jogi Löw will face the team of his immediate predecessor as German national coach, Jürgen Klinsmann. Furthermore, Löw had originally served as assistant coach under Klinsmann, until he became his successor. We'll see who's now the master and who's the apprentice. Tongue

It's not really that they win a lot (at least not for me). It's more that they have a disgustingly boring style of play and are a bandwagoner haven. And it's always entertaining watching an amazing team getting defeated by underdogs.

There are far worse styles of play than tiki-taka, and we have repeatedly seen that it can be a deadly attack style (see: Euro 2012 final), as well as having an impressive flow and showing great skill and coordination from its players. Can it get a little tedious? Sure. But the Spanish team is legitimately talented and IMO one of the humbler sides in international football. And I'm primarily of Spanish descent (well, white Cuban, but they're no good at the sport) so it's not just bandwagoning.

Drogba has been playing for only about five minutes and has already put his "artistic" skills in action...

Game finally finally finally turned away from snoozefest in the last ten with the two Colombian goals/Drogba. Still a bad game but no longer the worst of the tournament so far.

Ivorian goal! Crazy ten minutes, and the Colombians seem to be just around the corner from a third.
