And I am perfectly ready to believe that Suarez doesn't remember biting Chiellini.

Looks set to be Asia's worst tournament in quite some time, unless the South Koreans can win tomorrow.

So far:  P11 W0 D3 L8

Europe's record isn't exactly shiny either. Grin

Shame about the Ivorians, but 60% of Africa progressing is still an option.

I predicted Algeria's passage into the Round of 16. Hopefully I will be able to accept my accolades tomorrow.

True. But it's not dissimilar to how the 2010 group stage went, so far. (With the proviso that the 6 remaining European group games could tilt the stats either way.)

Fingers crossed.

I said it elsewhere and I'll say it here: Argentina have not been impressive. That said, I'll probably agree with Lief and likely predict that they'll be in the Final.

It's hard to imagine a Netherlands-Argentina semifinal not happening.

Either Mexico or Costa Rica will avenge us.

I've got the feeling we're either going to destroy the US tomorrow...or lose.

Argentina has been very mediocre, but they have a very easy group and a pretty straightforward march (the Dutch will choke) to the final unfortunately. France/Brazil/Germany/Colombia will deliver them a good thrashing in the Maracana though.

Argentina might improve in some of the knockout games and they played better against Nigeria than they did against Iran or Bosnia (despite conceding two goals), but I ultimately don't see them winning outright. France will win the World Cup; I am forecasting it now.

Everyone read Ann Coulter's take on Soccer in America? Of course, she goes on about how it's a LIBURUL sport and "proof of moral decay." Hahaha.

You think she'd wait until the US are eliminated to go on that rant.

"Individual achievement is not a big factor in soccer." !!!! LOL

She also claims that proper sport includes risk of major personal injury (because, ya know, its supplemented warfare...) and that soccer doesn't! Which proves she hasn't seen many (or any?) actual soccer matches.

Even if she doesn't think the actual play is violent enough, she should at least give soccer hooligans credit for being far more violent than the supporters of any major American spectator sport.

That's actually mind-blowing. I had never realized it was so much. Barely more than half of a given match is actually spent playing.

Better than American football still... I believe our in-play time was calculated at under twelve minutes.

Suarez banned for 9 international matches and banned from all play for four months. Oh, and fined 100k (Swiss Francs, FIFA's inhouse currency).

That's hardly toothless.
