What really gets me is the disingenuous nature of so many of the Soccer haters: they mock how you can move on in the tournament after losing but several of those idiots that I have personally encountered follow the NHL which also has a points system. Hell, they get points for an (overtime) loss!

In fairness, I've never met a hockey fan who liked the Bettman point.

So does either of these teams have an English-like reputation for shootouts?

It's just a shame these two teams had to face each other this early.

Well, technically Chile have never won one.
But this was only their second.

The last eight World Cup shoot outs have been won by the team going first.

FTR, the Brazilians have won 8 of 12 penalty shoot-outs.

Interesting that we get Colombia without Falcao playing Uruguay without Suárez.

Rodriguez a dark horse for Golden Boot?

At five goals I don't think he's a dark horse anymore.

Talking of dark horses though, Colombia to win the cup- you heard it here first.

Phil's been saying that for days. Perhaps it's not so out of left field.

Yeah, he said it at least on thursday- I must have read it but I forgot about it.

Anyway, I agree with Phil.

Would be even nicer to see them finish off Brazil.

I hope that Pekerman manages to beat the hosts in the QF, something he unfortunately failed to do in 2006.

Glorious slaughtering of the Uruguayans by the Colombians. Italy has been avenged.

I'm really liking this Colombian team and would love to see them do that, but France is still my pick to win it all.

I'm telling you, Colombia will win this tournament and they absolutely deserve it. I'm also glad because of the heavy Serie A presence. Smiley
