Adios Uruguay!

And I'm really liking Colombia too.

Colombia played well during the first half but their attitude when defending was far too passive at times. I'm not quite sure that such a tactic will be very effective against Brazil.

It would be nice to see an outsider winning the WC this year and Colombia is certainly in good shape to do so ... Wink

I'd like to see another new winning nation added to the list, best shots are Colombia and the Netherlands. Nigeria, Algeria, Mexico, Costa Rica, Greece, Switzerland, Belgium and the USA still in the mix (that's quite a lot really) too, but none scream as genuine chances to me.

That said, Argentina is the only previous winner on the second side of the draw, so the chances are good enough that there'll be a shot for a new winner from that side, and from the first side Colombia has a tough road to travel but could get there. Most likely France/Germany/Brazil though... all of whom could go into the final as favourites. That first half really is stacked.

At this point I have France and Germany winning, Brazil and France winning, and Brazil winning from the first half; Netherlands and Costa Rica, Argentina and USA, then Netherlands and Argentina, and then the Netherlands winning from the second half.

Why would a team with as weak a defence as the Netherlands be able to beat Argentina?

Can someone explain me what happened with Italia?
I read that the match against Uruguay was contested.

One of their players was shown the red card for a foul that many (including me) feel was, at most, worth a yellow card.

Playing shorthanded for a good portion of the game and then the whole biting incident not even being punished during the game may have had a significant influence on Italy being eliminated.

Personally not sure if Italy really would have avoided losing without these things happening, but they're certainly quite controversial.

It was formally contested? I didn't hear that. It would make sense though since FIFA's ruling on the Suarez incident stated that Suarez should have been sent off and that was almost right before the goal.

Next World Cup should be held in Pakistan in May. Accept no substitute.

My neighbors are loving the result so far. Mexico is a sharp squad, and the Dutch don't look like they like the heat.
