"So gehn die Gauchos und die Deutschen gehen so !"

Excellent.
Spiegel online is concern trolling about that...

David Luiz and Marcelo are hilariously awful choices for Best XI because those two are almost entirely responsible for the landslide margin of Brazil's defeat against Germany. They kept abandoning their positions to run up the field which gave the Germans big gaps to maneuver through

All of Germany debates: Does the "gaucho dance" mean that the German national football players are Nazis?

Well, not really all of Germany... but it's a sign that it is summer, the world cup is over, the Bundestag is on vacation and the silly season has officially begun!

Costa Rica was moved up 12 ranks (and surpassed Mexico), for obvious reasons I think.

England fell 10 ranks and is now significantly behind the US *lol*

Australia's fallen to 76... goodo, we're worse than Cape Verde, Oman, Israel, Libya, Uzbekistan, and Jordan...?

Losing games against quality opposition (Chile, Spain, and the Netherlands) shouldn't push you below fricking Cape Verde tyvm.

No need for the hate on Cape Verde hugh - they're a perfectly decent footballing side who were one of the most watchable teams at last year's Cup of Nations, and were unfortunate not to go further in their World Cup qualification. Their only real competitive losses in the last 2 years have been to Ghana and Cameroon.

The US has performed more strongly than England recently. Seems reasonable.

Agreed. Away from Wembley, England have been having a pretty tough time for a while now.

The persistent idea that the Americans are some sort of joke side hasn't been true for a long time. (The rankings will always struggle to accurately place them though given that it's almost only at World Cups that they can be seriously judged.)

I didn't want to imply that the ranking of England in relation to the United States is necessarily incorrect. It's just ironic IMO.

Yeah, 14 and 15 are in the proper order.

Don't worry though. Los Campeones will be back in their proper spot on the FIFA ranks soon enough.

FIFA rankings are generally worse than ELO rankings, as I recall.

Also, some of the hate comes from the fact that FIFA used to be really, really horrible. I think the classic example is Honduras being ranked number 1 about a decade ago.

Also, just recently Norway got put in the top seeding pot for Europe. WTF.

Honduras's highest ever FIFA ranking was 20 (Sept 2001).

The list of #1 ranked sides is limited to Germany, Brazil, Italy, France, Argentina, Spain, and the Netherlands.
