As Usual. South (plus some Mountain West) against North-East and Pacific West. Essentially - 2 different states.

I would be interested to see numbers for "religious" and "not religious." Keep the "very" out.

They also included numbers for "moderately religious" and "not religious" in the link Smiley

Not particularly surprising.

Well, really the only really religious mountain state is Utah, and that's because of the LDS churches. Maybe Idaho would be somewhat religious too, but Utah is the only one that stands out.  Most states in the Mountain West are pretty non-religious, I think Wyoming would win as the best combination of % republican vote and % non-religious.

Wyoming is the Most Republican and Most Conservative State yet its only 36% very religious. Most of the Republican base states are also in "very religious category" but Wyoming is not. That's just odd.

It is strange, but if I'm not mistaken Wyoming is more of a libertarian-conservative state instead of just conservative. For example, despite their voting patterns I don't think they've constitutionally banned gay marriage.

Yep. Wyoming is the most nonreligious Romney state, with 38.6% of the population identifying as nonreligous.
