Wow.

Sen. Mark Pryor (D-AR) will officially announce Wednesday that he is retiring at the end of his current term, POLITICO has learned.  Pryor, considered a moderate Democrat, faced a potentially grueling reelection battle against Rep. Tom Cotton, one of the GOP’s top recruits.
Sources say that Pryor’s decision came in the face of private polling which showed the second-term senator facing “insurmountable odds” in the fall.  The late announcement means that Arkansas Democrats will have to scramble for a replacement against the well-funded and heavily favored Cotton.
“Get used to saying it: ‘Senator Tom Cotton’,” said a GOP consultant with ties to the state. “Arkansas is now a sure thing for us.  This will improve our chances of taking back the Senate.”
Pryor, 51, was first elected to the Senate in 2002.  A ‘Blue Dog’ Democrat, Pryor’s retirement means this group will be deprived of yet another member.

R+1, for real.

If only this were true. Sad

A Pryor step-down would have meant a R+1, but I would have been completely fine with that as long as Democrats wouldn't put a lot of money into the race still. Spending loads of money to maybe save this joke of a Democrat is worse than handing the win to Cotton.

Rather unoriginal and simplistic prank. You could have done better.

Wow. He had me fooled...

As my first actual encounter with the mythical "Van Der Blub", I have to say...I'm quite impressed.

I can't wait to see how the real Sawx reacts to this. Smiley

Nice try, OP, but I wouldn't shed a tear if Pryor retired.  Good riddance to bad rubbish.  And it's Sawxylvania, btw. Wink

Well, fair enough.  I'm the only moderator of this board, not counting Dave or Nym.  That's what the green-ish stars under my name signify.

P.S. Locking this thread would be rather redundant at this point.  Plus, Blub is a forum legend.
