Walker would probably be too right wing against Cuomo, a moderate (DLC) Democrat.

Andrew Cuomo; and especially if he could pick a good VP.

Who do you think would be a good VP pick for him?

I was thinking maybe Amy Klobuchar.

Kirsten Gillibrand would be good... even though she is from the same state.

It could balance the experience factor on the ticket.

I was going to say her, until I remembered she was from New York too. With two people from NY on the same ticket, wouldn't the Democrats not get awarded NY's electoral votes then?

Because both candidates can't be from the same state. So one would have to resign their position and register in a new state. Not going to happen.

Walker. A DINO isn't exactly going to bring out the liberal base.

The constitution prohibits electors from casting their ballot for two candidates from the same state

Ugh, I don't even like to think about Cuomo being the nominee.

That being said he would win I think.

Of course we don't want to think about that. That is in the same league with "Biden becomes President" after something very bad happens to the President.

But that said, consider this oddball poll:

Virginia, Christopher Newport University (with which I am unfamiliar)

Clinton 43%
Christie 41%

Clinton 46%
Walker 35%

Walker would be the hero of those who love his anti-labor, anti-public-sector, anti-environmentalist stances and an anathema to much of America. I can imagine Cuomo losing Virginia to Christie, but certainly not to Walker.

Scott Walker would cause me to contemplate emigration.

Walker is not known much yet in America, as seen by his favorability scores.

Cuomo has some goodwill from the Dems from being the first big-state governor to legalize marriage equality, and he can run a hundred ads about "sitting down with both sides of the New York legislature" for the centrist types. He'd (hopefully) crush Walker. Unions would not be happy though.

If Cuomo manages to get to the general, he's near unbeatable. He'll be easily able to fend off Walker unless Obama's ratings sink low enough to render the party toxic.

Cuomo would probably pull it off, but I really wonder who he could use to balance the ticket. You could say someone from the South or out West, but I cannot imagine anyone who compliments his candidacy. I am practically stumped, unless he would consider Brian Schweitzer. I suppose if he wanted a woman for the history-making effect, he could pick Claire McCaskill. I am pretty sure people from both parties would just be confused if he picked either, but they don't have any huge disadvantages. When I look at Cuomo, who seems to have a moderate record, I would expect him not to compromise his appeal to the undecided voters with the addition Northeastern liberal to the ticket, which rules out several candidates who other Democratic Presidential nominees would be in a position to consider.

What about Kay Hagan? She seems fairly moderate and compatible with Cuomo. Although it would mean sacrificing her Senate seat.
