Never late or absent from work unless there's a real issue. Never plan to be late or absent either.

University is a different story. Three-hour night class with no final exam or participation marks? Sorry, but I have better things to do on a Tuesday night. 8:30 lecture from a prof who only reads off the PowerPoint slides and then puts them online later? No thanks. I attend class if the prof makes class worth attending. More times than not, it isn't. I've ranted about university before, but I continue to find that hard work doesn't actually pay off in university. My last-minute essays have gotten As and the ones I started early have done worse. What is the incentive to try? I mean, maybe if you work very hard you will do only very slightly better, but for a few percentage points, the sacrifice is hardly worth it.

Hey, maybe you'll get lucky that whenever I somehow skipped class (somewhere around 4-5 times in 5 years total) there was a sub and we watched a movie and it didn't matter.

Unfortunately my experience is that we don't have subs upwards of 50% of the time. Tongue
