Yeah, I think that's pretty obvious.

No, because the "Tea Party" is not a real thing and we should stop pretending it's anything other than a corporate front operation.

The question is referring to those who would in some way identify with the more or less mythical Tea Party, which IIRC is about a fifth of Americans. No one's arguing that the various "Tea Party" organizations which we exist aren't Koch fronts.

So basically the Republican voter-activist "base."

Some of them probably. I think the base would be socially conservative tea partiers, 9/11 truthers, and other various kinds of disaffected whites.

Lief and Snowstalker are actual Nazi's themselves, so I don't know if they should be looking down their noses at the Tea Party.

Yeah, Occupy has the KPD Tongue

I looked into a couple old Nazi platforms. Some of it looks like Tea Party stuff (immigration restrictions) and some of it looks like TNF's posting history (abolishing "unearned income"). This indicates that Weimar-American Nazis would have a similar profile to most European far-right parties' supporters.

Occupy and Tea are completely different movements, one is right wing and the other is left-wing.

Actually they are pretty similar in many ways.

No. The people who were drawn to the Nazis were concerned about high unemployment, income inequality and lack of opportunity.

The Tea Party likes all three of those things.

The Tea Party opposes all those things, they just think those things are the fault of illegal immigrants, big government, and the president's Kenyan Socialist policies.

Occupy is a genuine grassroots movement, not led by a bunch of parasites interested in lining their own pockets at the expense of everyone else. The Tea Party is the brainchild of those very parasites, and is committed to a policy of continuing their cash flow in the midst of the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression. They are not comparable, unless you are a liberal with no sense of what ideology is and cling to the center as if it is best position by default because "BOTH SIDES GO TOO FAR." Which is, of course, nonsense because Occupy isn't even really asking for all that much beyond "please can we not starve as much thx"

The question is stupid and the subsequent discussion hasn't been much better. The Tea Party is a very American thing and trying to place it in a Weimar context is just...I hardly know what to say.

And, yes, it is ironic that Lief and BRTD are probably among the people most likely in this thread to have supported the Nazis back in those days.
