If Rob McCord wins the nomination for Governor and is up against Corbett do you think he loses like Santorum did in 2006?

Well, working in Corbett's favor is that 2014 is unlikely to be a Dem wave, much less as big of one as 2006 was. Also the fact that Casey, Jr. was a much more formidable candidate than any of the potential Dems for governor. On the other hand, Corbett's approval rating is much lower than Santorum's was.

I'm gonna say he loses in a landslide, but not quite as badly as Santorum. Something like 55-45.

A lot of Republicans don't even like Corbett I have a hard time seeing them turning him out for him like they would with Santorum. I think McCord could win with 58+ he has a lot of crossover appeal.

Corbett better hope that the Dems nominate Schwartz because he will tie her to Obama and bring up Obamacare.

McCord winning with almost 60% ?

A lot can still happen though.

Obamacare won't be that huge of an issue compared to abortion - PA is pretty pro-life, and overall leans socon. Nominating an abortion clinic owner is fairly risky.

We're not even talking reelection, especially if the GOP puts up a good candidate.

I'm fairly sure that this thread has appeared before with Schwartz instead of McCord.

I would have to agree with IceSpear on this one, that this will be close to 55-45, around a 10 pt margin. The Republican base will probably come back home to some extent, lessening the impact, but Corbett will still lose and lose big.

Petition season hasn't even begun yet. It kicks off Tuesday. The deadline is March 11th.

If you're the PA GOP, you might want to recruit former Governor Tom Ridge into jumping into this race if Corbett's polling numbers don't improve.
