Would have the gay rights movement accelerated? Or did Proposition 8 energize the gay rights community?

The gay rights movement had been leery of going to the courts as they feared getting a Supreme Court decision that explicitly upheld Baker v. Nelson.  Absent Prop 8, I doubt that the rush to Federal lawsuits would have happened quite as quickly as it did, possibly waiting until some states had begun to recognize SSM without having a State lawsuit causing them to do so.
