Wow, this is worse than the Russian anti-gay law. Much worse, actually. The good thing is that it's blatantly unconstitutional and will almost certainly be struck down in court.

Everyone who voted for that bill, as well as Sam Brownback, deserve to burn in hell.

Not that I support them, quite the opposite, but do these fools have any idea of the likely consequences, precedent-wise, resulting from their little legislative games?  I mean, depending on how you feel Justice Kennedy is going to come down on a particular question, there's potentially a longer term benefit to this short term schmuckery.

Difference is they packed the courts, so basically 99% of laws that doesn't conform to a lib worldview gets tossed now.

The UN observers were shocked to learn the US doesn't have a voter ID law.
What?

I don't have to show ID to vote, I'm registered.

When 25% of voters in Kansas think you've gone too far-right, it's time to take a good look at yourself.

I hope this drags Brownback down too.

Unfortunately, Jan Pauls, Ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, author of Kansas's Ban on Same-Sex Marriage, a staunch supporter and sponsor of Religious Freedom Bills such as this one, and who single-handedly prevented the repeal of Kansas's ban on homosexual relationships and sodomy has switched parties after it became clear she wouldn't win the Democratic Primary this year.

Hopefully after she wins re-election, she will see sense and come re-join the Democrats. Her strong support for Labor and Working Families will not go down well in one of America's most radical right-wing Republican caucuses.

http://cjonline.com/news/2014-05-30/pauls-jumps-gop-citing-stances-abortion-gay-rights

<Pauls said it seemed, at times, like Equality Kansas' executive director, Tom Witt, "was running the state party." She lauded the labor caucus for defending her when Witt's group tried to have her censured.

"I might say too, if you're doing a side bet on a fight between the labor caucus and this other caucus, I'd put my money on the labor guys in any kind of rumble at all," Pauls said.

The joke elicited a smattering of laughter among the Republicans who lined the walls of the ceremonial Secretary of State's office within the Capital.>

Stay classy, Jan.

Do you understand why that would be a stupid decision?

You know, the fact that you're literally advocating for sodomy laws in this post kind of shatters your "I just want to preserve the definition of marriage!" facade.

Then why include that in your glowing praise of her?

That's simply something iconic she's remembered for. I do not support that particular thing.
