Current on-going series I am reading:

Justice League, Earth 2, Action Comics, Batman/Superman, Superman/Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Red Lanterns, Swamp Thing, Avengers, New Avengers, Avengers World, Secret Avengers, Thunderbolts, She-Hulk, Guardians of the Galaxy, Saga, The Manhattan Projects

Older comics I am currently reading:

Preacher and the 2005 Guardians of the Galaxy re-boot. Just finished reading the entire run of The Authority.

Favorite comics of all time:

The Sandman, Seven Soldiers, Final Crisis

Also, I illegally download all of these. That's how I can afford it.

I used to.  Started in college and kept it up until I was in the hospital several years ago with a pair of broken arms.  That kept me from going to the comic shop and I never got back in the habit.  When I moved last year, I pared down from close to thirty short boxes to one and sold the rest at auction so as to avoid having to find someplace to store them all.

That's another reason illegal downloading is cool, no need for storage.

What's hilarious is that it's helping kill the comic book industry as well as manga and everything else. So the people who love it so much might just kill it off by not feeling like paying people for the work they do.

I'm a big collector of old Batman and X-Men comics; I used to read monthly but stopped a while ago.

absolutely, in fact right now i'm working with straha and a few other people to come up with one. anyway, some of my favs:

* dmz: story set in a dystopic us where new york city has become a war zone.

* newuniversal: wonderful re-imagined version of the (sadly, largely pretty lame) 1980s 'new universe line.' it's an alternate history where 1959-2006 went very differently and super humans have begun to pop up after the laws of physics were altered...

* black hole: despite the name, the premise is actually that an std causes teenagers in the 1970s to mutate. obvious metaphor for aids, the sexual revolution, etc.

* elmer: another alternate history, set in a universe where chickens develop sapience and begin to talk. great book, criminally overlooked.

* the massive: post apocalyptic story. survivors search for their missing sister ship in a "post-everything," environmentally devastated world. actually not a great synopsis but i don't want to spoil anything... buy it.

* the punisher (maxx version): i'm actually more fond of dc as far as the 'big 2' publishers go but punisher may actually be my favorite comic book character. really transcends the source material and limitations of the genre.

* runaways: fun! great action, well developed characters, beautiful art. ironically the teenagers feel more realistic than a lot of non fantasy/sci-fi.

* the sandman (vertigo): being a fan of fantasy surrealism, horror, etc. i obviously love this series. although i have to admit it's somewhat overrated.

* animal man (new 52 version): not overhyped at all (unlike the original morrison run...). great art, trippy but coherent storyline, really brings something new to the character. much better than a lot of dc comics being published since 2011.

Yep, I'm a big DC guy.

Currently pulling:

Action Comics (Greg Pak's work so far on this book is actually better than Morrison's, IMO)
Batman
Earth 2 (Tom Taylor killin it)
Justice League
Red Lanterns (Charles Soule=my favorite writer)
Superman / Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman (gonna drop it after Azzarello leaves)

I'll be checking out:

Batman: Eternal
Detective Comics (when the new creative team begins)
The Flash (see above)
Future's End
Justice League United
Superboy (I'm a huge Aaron Kuder fan, so gotta check this out when he starts writing)
Superman (Geoff Johns/JRjr…looking forward to it)

I pick up others too when they strike my fancy.

I'm just reading Smallville Season 11 now but I don't read the comics, I wait for the trade paperbacks to come out. I read more manga but I loved Smallville too much.

Yeah, but only in French (classics from the greats like Tintin, Astérix, Lucky Luke, Iznogoud and sometimes random ones like Ducobu or Les Tuniques bleues - the last one is actually a French series about two dimwits fighting for the Union in the ACW, amusingly enough).

It's already dead.

The sooner death rattles end, the sooner something better can be built.

Seriously, how is it economically viable to sell books that take 10 minutes to read for $4?

I yes to, a lot. Haven't read any ongoing series in a while now, & I never did regularly. 80's "graphic novels" are where it's at. "Batman: Hush" is up there as well. I can provide a fuller list of my former interests later.

This was an entertaining enough read, but just reeked of 2005.

I do. Mostly DC stuff. I'm way behind on everything though. I'm not too crazy about the whole New 52 thing.

the worst thing about new 52 is that it's not even a complete reboot. so everyone knows they're just going to be forced to do the same thing *again* sometime within the next 5-10 years. meanwhile their sales continue to go down even as people go to the movies and buy trades of non-superhero comics. pointless

Personally I read comics in the same way I read books- I pick up what looks interesting, which is usually the latest pretentious "graphic novel" or manga. I wouldn't describe myself as a comic book fan tho- I just read like I do anything else.
