Congrats man!

Despite party affiliation you were always very helpful with my agenda - keep doing the Northeast's work.

Congrats to the others too naturally. I'll certify the results in a bit.

A statement to the citizens of the Northeast

Back in February, the good people of the Northeast decided to trust me as their representative in the Northeast Assembly. Since then, I've come a long way from that newbie who didn't have any idea what he was doing to the Speaker of the Northeast Assembly. Throughout my three terms as Representative, I've been an active voice in the Northeast, fighting for the rights of all citizens. I've led efforts to expand anti-work place discrimination legislation, outlaw private prisons,  and abolish the barbaric practice of solitary confinement. In addition to this, I've supported efforts to expand marriage equality, expand our anti-homelessness program, and liberalize our laws on issues such as pornography and drug legalization. Since February, we've accomplished a lot, but I'm not done yet. It is because of this, I'm asking the good people of the Northeast to send me back to the Assembly for a fourth term.

Platform:

  • I intend to continue the dallasfan65 legacy and support the legalization of everything. My philosophy is that if it doesn't impede on someone else's rights,  you should be allowed to do it.
  • While Dr. Cynic's recent anti-homelessness bill is a step in the right direction, I feel that there's still more we can do to eradicate homelessness. I'd personally like to implement something along the lines of the real life Utah housing program
  • Finally, I hope to make the Northeast the first region to implement single payer health care. In my next term, I plan on introducing something like Vermont's real life Green Mountain Care

I humbly ask that the Northeast reelect me. Three good terms deserve another!

A reminder to Northeast Voters:

You're not supposed to vote in the Northeast regional elections before 1AM for some reason so don't do that.

Also vote for me

Campaign Announcement Speech

Speech given at Lafayette Square in Buffalo

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I'm here today to make a big announcement: I will be running for Senate in December's At-large elections!

Ever since my election to the Northeast Assembly, Ive been a committed voice for the working class, for progress, for liberty, and for fairness. As Representative, I've led the charge on efforts to prohibit private prisons, prohibit solitary confinement, and expand our workplace anti-discrimination laws to cover the rights of unpaid interns. If elected senator, I promise to continue fighting for the rights and liberties of all Atlasians.

Some core principles:

Civil Liberties: It has always been my personal philosophy that as long as what you're doing doesn't impede on the rights of others, you should be allowed to do it. As Representative, I've voted in favor of a number of bills to expand individual liberties, including expanding our marriage laws to cover polygamous and incestuous couples, protect the right to privacy,  and liberalize our laws on issues like drug policy and pornography.

Single-payer Health Care: I believe that access to quality health care is a right that must be guaranteed to all citizens. It's simply the morally correct thing to do. Why should someone be allowed greater access to something as basic as quality heath just because they happen to be richer? Besides being moral, Single-payer is also practical. Under Single-payer, instead of paying for costly emergency treatment, you end up with much cheaper preventive care, saving us health care costs. Additionally, diseases are more likely to be detected earlier, preventing potential epidemics.

A commitment to peace: While each foreign policy issue is unique and must be looked at on a case by case basis, as a general rule, I support a non-interventionist foreign policy. War should only be considered as an absolute last resort, and only if there is a direct and immediate threat to Atlasia's security. I support the Peace and Prosperity Act currently being debated on the Senate floor, and believe that we should work to shrink our armed forces and begin to bring our troops serving overseas back home.

Holding our elected officials responsible: Senators are elected to represent the will of the people, and if the majority of the population decides they're no longer doing that, they should have the option to recall their federal officials. Additionally, I also support giving citizens the right to call for a Nationwide referendum on federal legislation.

This is by no means a complete platform, and I hope to have a full platform up as soon as possible. In the meantime, I'll be happy to answer any questions my constituents might have. I'd like to thank you all for this opportunity to run for Senate to represent you, and I'd be honored to have your vote.

Early candidacies rarely if ever work out for said candidate. That being said, I'm sure you'll do okay with Labor support.

Probably won't endorse your candidacy but obviously you know I wish you good luck.

Cynic, IIRC, was the last super early candidate for at large, and that worked out OK.

Statement on the Mideast's Promotion of Marriage in Education Act

Unless you've been living under a rock the past few days, you've heard of the recent bill that has passed the Mideast Assembly, the so called "Promotion of Marriage in Education Act". This bill received national attention and condemnation, and rightfully so. I applaud Senator Polnut, Midwest Governor LeBronFitzGerald, and everyone else who has spoken out against this hatful bill, and I commend Mideast Governor TJ for doing the right thing and vetoing this hateful bill. Atlasia has a proud tradition of equality, and I'm disgusted that some would try and force our schools to teach their student's that some people are better than others because of who they love.

I applaud the stand that so many have taken against this awful and urge the Senate to pass Senator bore's "LGBT Equality in Schooling Act". This bill would prevent regions from teaching that one union is inferior to another just because the union is between a same-sex couple. I also intend to vote for my fellow Northeast Representative Sawx's  "Peace, Love, and Blessings Act", which would teach marriage equality and allow for debate on differing view points on marriage in schools.

That being said, while I believe the outrage over this bill was entirely justified and commendable, I'm a bit disappointed at the silence on the left over another recent Mideast bil, "The Right to Life Act". This bill restricted access to a women's right to choose whether to continue her pregnancy or not and legislated mandatory ultrasounds. Denying women control over their own bodies outrageous, and I'm disappointed by the fact that only two Atlasian public officials, to my knowledge, spoke out against this bill.

I am a firm supporter of a women's right to choose and to have control over her own body. Women should have complete control over their own bodies, not the government. I do not believe that a fetus is a person with rights, and even if it was, these rights should not interfere with the rights of the woman. Abortion should be legal, free, and on demand at any point during pregnancy.

If elected to the Senate, passing this Constitutional amendment would be one of my top priorities:

I believe that a women's right to choose is a basic right that neither the federal government nor the regions should be able to infringe.

I have a honest question concerning your "The Right to Choose" Amendment. Doesn't the baby in the womb have that right to life as well or the right of the father to advocate for the life of that child? The decision to terminate a pregnancy is not one that should be taken lightly. The Peace, Love, and Blessings Act is a good idea but all views should be debated fairly with no one view treated as supreme. Not teaching the lefts view of marriage equality but all views. Let's see what view actually is the best and most beneficial for life in Atlasia.

No.

Why do you think this way? Why should the woman get the only say when the father contributed to the creation of that life? Since both contributed to the creation of said life shouldn't both have say?

Senate Candidate SWE announces stuff

My fellow Atlasians, I'm here to announce my intentions to run in the Special Senate Race to replace President-elect Lumine. As Northeast Representative, I've proven myself to be an active legislature, fighting for issues ranging from anti-workplace discrimination laws, to reforming our criminal justice system, and expanding civil liberties. If elected senator, I vow to be an active legislature and stand up for worker's rights, civil liberties, and an anti-imperialist foreign policy. I plan to have a full platform up soon.

Atlasians, in just a couple of hours the polls open and voting in the Special election to replace President Lumine will begin. I'm here to humbly ask for your support tonight. If elected senator I promise to be an active senator, standing up for the rights of all Atlasians. As Senator I'll:

  • Fight to protect worker's rights
  • Champion a Constitutional amendment protecting a women's right to choose
  • Fight to protect civil liberties
  • Oppose imperialistic foreign policies
  • Fight to finally create a single-payer health care system

I would be honored to have your support in tonight's election.
