Since I've been reading through old threads lately...

I'm fairly certain we had a poll like this not long ago, but this is what we will compare the results with.

Not quite sure. Depends on the flavors of all involved, and not sure even then if I could make a decision. Also, socially conservative does not equate to socially authoritarian, for the record, which (IMO) gives social conservatism a leg up that social authoritarianism wouldn't. At least for me. Do by social liberalism you mean gun bans and junk food regulations?

That's not how I interpret the last poll, so no, I do not mean gun bans and junk food regulations.

I'd probably prefer a tolerant society preyed on by mega rich elites than an economically fairer society filled with racists, homophobes, misogynists, and other assorted bigots.

By "liberal-libertarian" do you mean left-libertarian or classical liberal? Either way, that one.

So, does neither side have that?

The idea that "junk food regulations" is either a particularly important, or particularly dangerous, pillar/example of left-wing social policy is one of those right-wing memes that would be laughable if it wasn't so effective at being a harmful distraction.  I will grant that gun policy is in fact a centrally important marker on this axis as it currently exists, though even there I think that it shouldn't be.

It really depends. Where do each of them stand on gun control and smoking regulations? What about foreign policy? Is the economic leftist a full blown socialist? Does the liberal-libertarian support completely legalizing all drugs, late-term abortion, and child pornography? Does the social conservative support monarchy and segregation?

The latter, mostly because, 90% of the time, people who adhere to the former happen to be insufferable, arrogant and intellectually illiterate pricks.

Left-libertarian as in libertarian socialism?  Pretty easy choice for me.

"Socially-conservative/economic leftist" for me because having unconditional access to security and our most basic material needs is more important than being accepted and loved by most other people, and would still allow for a lot of deviant folks to conceal their true selves enough in most instances to carry on with mostly satisfactory lives.

The "liberal-libertarian" option would be more problematic. It would likely set up society mostly free and wondrous for those who can afford it but comparatively miserable and oppressive for those who - whether by actions of their own or through culminating events beyond their control - descend into an impoverished underclass of people who live day-to-day and must focus on survival and occasional, fleeting pleasures of the moment rather than investing in their own personal development.

In the U.S. I would choose Christian socialism over the prescriptions of the Libertarian Party any day.

As a pro-life libertarian this one is a bit complex.

I am not sure, JCL. Libertarian thought can be compatible with both sides of the abortion debate. The harm principle comes to mind in being a potential bastion of support for the pro-life stance, assuming here that you believe the unborn become people prior to birth!
