Congratulations to Representative cinyc for being elected Speaker once more. This is a welcome turn of events, since I have fond memories of his Speakership when I first joined Atlasia.

My first act as Governor will be to appoint Averroes Nix to the vacancy in the office of Chief Judicial Officer, in accordance with Article Four, Section Two of the Northeast Constitution. I trust this won't be an issue.

There will be a special election for the seat, running from Friday, March 14th to Sunday, March 17th.

Despite the misgivings that some may have, I support and and sign into law the Group Unions Act. I applaud this piece of legislation, as it helps to cultivate the Northeast as a pluralistic society, tolerant of all lifestyle choices between consenting adults.

That being said, I do give heed to some of the considerations raised and I encourage the Assembly to amend this legislation in the future as appropriate.

I am ordering the Vermont National Guard to deploy a unit to Burlington in response to reports of an unidentified vessel landing. These troops will be under orders to hold their fire and make an assessment of the situation.

I am issuing my first (and hopefully only) veto, upon this piece of legislation.

I'm not particularly fond of public investment in green technology, and I agree with the spirit of this legislation. However, I believe that this sort of decision is best adjudicated at the start of each fiscal trimester - as I mentioned earlier, the budget for March through July significantly stripped expenditures on alternative energy.

However, different governors may have different agendas. I think the current budget serves as a useful template and I wouldn't want to tinker with it.
