Clarity Campaigns has a widget that allows you see how partisan certain first names are, based on voter registration files.

How liberal/conservative is your first name? Also, try to find the most liberal and conservative names.

James is 53/47 Republican, with a little over 50% owning guns, 55% attending church, and 52.5% having a college degree.

The most Republican name I can find is Tagg at 69.6%, the most Democratic name I found is Shaniqua at 89.2%.

53.8% R, 46.2% D.
9.9% have a more republican name, 90.1% have a more democratic name
48.6% Have a gun in their house
55.5% Attend religious services weekly
54.3% Have a college degree

Good stuff here.

I played around a little, a lot of it seems to be based on gender (and race too). Having a name like Buck or Shekelia would obviously throw things off a bit, but nice find on your part (how did you come up with those names??)

The most common name is Michael, by the way, quickly followed by John and James.

My first name:
55.5% D
35.6% have a more Democratic name
51.6% have a gun in their house
52.2% attend religious services weekly
47.9% have a college degree

My middle name:
56.4% D
31.2% have a more Democratic name
44.5% have a gun in their house
44.3% attend religious services weekly
56.9% have a college degree

Playing around with the names of my family I noticed that oddly the female names were all significantly less likely to attend weekly services.  That seems odd.  If anything, females usually attend church more often than men.

75% of those named Hitler are registered Republican, while 75% of those named Gandhi or Jesus are registered Democrats.
Does that mean that Republicans are per definition three times more evil than Democrats? An interesting philosophical question.

Also, 82% named Obama are Democrats. 67% named Glory are Democrats. A clear majority of those named Hope are Democrats.

The most Republican name I can find is Tagg at 69.6%, the most Democratic name I found is Shaniqua at 89.2%.
Conventional names tend to be more Republican.

That's why

Sheniqua 90.2%
Shaniqwa 89.8%
and
Shanniqua 89.8%

Are more Democratic than

Shaniqua 89.2%

91.2% of registered voters named Fabulous are Democrats.  Which makes little sense, considering there are only 10 registered voters named Fabulous.  Why isn't the percentage a multiple of 10?  I guess there must be some independents/non-registered party Fabulouses.  But you can't get 91.2% with 8/9 or 7/8 or anything less than 12 people.  Something's not right.

Only 31% of people named God attend religious services weekly.  86% are Democrats.

Given how that site's statistics peg everyone as either a Republican or a Democrat, independents are likely being tagged as a mixture of Republican and Democrat.

Christopher: 51%/49% R

Other names in my immediate family...

Patrick: 50%/50% R
Douglas: 57%/43% R
Margaret: 54%/46% D

My parents did a pretty good job of picking names that average out their names' political leanings Smiley

Paul - 52.4% R / 47.6% D

Gun - 48.9% do (I don't)
Church - 51.8% (I don't)
College Degree - 55.7% (I do)

A lot of this is merely a function of race and gender. I wonder what the most Democratic male name is, that isn't usually associated with minorities.
