Interestingly this is the seat that swung the most D in the entire country. While Arizona stayed almost the same % wise in the presidential election as 2008, the other Maricopa County suburban districts swung pretty good to the republicans. There was a huge swing to democrats with Hispanics and a huge swing to republicans with white voters. Clearly this is downtown Phoenix and is majority Hispanics, Safe D like it would've been anyway.

There's talk about Sinema switching over here from AZ-9. Would be smarter to run in AZ-9 - while she can act more like a progressive here, this district is full of candidates who haven't tried to pander to moderates.

Sinema doesn't exactly have top-flight challengers in AZ-09, hopefully she sees the light and stays there. The more times she wins there, the more faithful independents will be to her (barring an anti-incumbent wave year).

IIRC her district is trending D too. I don't think we're seeing Sinema's real political views.

Not sure an ex-Nader spokeswoman can win here yet. J-Nap seems done with politics too. I'm honestly more keen on running Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick? She has no charism.
And your ex-Nader spokeswoman is now a member of the Blue Dog Coalition. Tongue

Sinema has a better chance of winning the general of AZ-09 than the primary in AZ-07.

Hopefully the horrible traitor Sinema suffers the same fate as the other Moderate Hero extraordinaire, Artur Davis.

It's strange you hate her. After all she stays social liberal.

Kirkpatrick is a strong in ancestrally Democratic areas and is a good campaigner. AZ-1 is pretty much the best staging point for a Democrat running statewide.

I don't really 'hate' her because I don't care about random congresscritters in Arizona, but her moves makes her a slimy opportunist.

Sinema's simply voting her district. You can either have "slimy opportunist" or a Republican.

This is why no one takes Greens seriously.

Eh, probably for the better. Would not want that weird Vernon dude to get the 9th District.

Glad about Sinema staying in AZ-09.

So who do we like for the 7th district?

Chad Campbell would be cool; he's the State House Minority Leader.

I looked him up and he sounds good. I like that he was a major factor in getting the Medicaid expansion passed.

I know from a recent local news article that local Dems urged Sinema not to switch because they want a hispanic candidate to represent the community. Campbell is white, and his surname probably won't do him much favors in the primary. I think for now I'm going to tentatively support state Sen. Gallardo, who recently came out as gay and is planning to run or has already announced, not sure but it says he is running in the article I read about his coming out.

Ex-Rep. Harry Mitchell backs Gallego.

Also, ex-Obama staffer Ronnie Cho is "close to a decision."

A bit odd. Pastor snubs Gallego:
