Whether it's insulting really depends on whether it means you have generally reasonable positions, or that you have enough agreeable positions and enough disagreeable ones that it averages out to reasonable.

third position economics. smash the fed and international financial parasites, credit unions are better. end 'free trade.' replace income tax with some sort of national sales tax (this doesn't have to be regressive). some deregulation and spending cuts would actually make sense but i'm very much in favor of nationalizing large portions of healthcare and oil, coal and natural gas. also i really don't like environmentalism, we need more nuclear power and i want to avoid any 'green' tax hikes or subsidization schemes to fight alleged global warming. we need more industry in general in this country.

isolationism. bring our troops home and put them at the border. we don't need to spend 6 x more than china as a country and police a bunch of countries for no reason. also we get nothing out of our 'friendship' with israel, they are a burden on the tax payers and war criminals. i consider the neocons to be israeli firsters and un-american, more so than a lot of left wingers.

against universal suffrage. there need to at least be safeguards like voter testing to screen out the incompetent and lazy. as it is democracy is a highly flawed concept even taking that into account. i don't have a very high opinion of liberal values in general, not everyone is created equal. sorry.

Eh, i think this is our main difference. I'm generally quite libertarian except on gun rights and I think it's kinda misguided to think "cultural Marxism" has any impact left other than attempts at forcing equality

I agree with most of this except for promoting nuclear power which I think is good as a temporary solution but in the long term unsustainable and risky. I don't like flat taxes either.

I support democracy as a check against tyranny, but if a better system came along, sure. It'd be too dangerous to support a limited franchise again imo.

Now that I've shifted a bit:

Economic issues: Capitalist. Some regulations on business are necessary. Support mostly free trade agreements, but fair trade is cool too. There are days when I support a flat tax, and there are days when I support a slightly progressive tax system. Overall, if the rich are to pay a higher tax rate, I believe it should be only slightly higher, not extremely higher.

Social issues: Social Libertarian. States Rights. Marriage for all, legalize drugs, yadda yadda yadda.

Foreign Policy: Non-interventionist. Decrease foreign aid. See: Ron Paul's foreign policy.

Domestic policy: Health care should be left to the free market. Immigrant sympathizer, but not necessarily supportive of amnesty. I oppose gun control. Etc.

Overall: Moderate Libertarian Conservative. I identify as a Republican and will register as such when I'm old enough.

Nothing has changed for me since I posted here in early October, aside from no longer supporting the means testing of Social Security and and turning very very slightly tougher on immigration. As usual I'm just the same as I always am save for occasional minor tweaks and changing in emphasis depending on the time.

Fascism, though a change of avatar unless to independent would be silly in my opinion since there are no sensible fascist parties to support in the States if one were so inclined to do so. I'm alright with Mint though; we just don't see eye to eye on a lot of issues. :]

Lots of FF beliefs though I tend to disagree that there shouldn't be any initiatives/referendums:

I do not believe people can govern themselves, and that is why we have a representative democracy, and cannot be trusted to directly make decisions on their own, which is why I oppose any referendum/initiative systems.

I can definitely see why people would be opposed to an initiative system when you look at some of the stupid crap passed in states (we have plenty of that here ) but I do think it is a useful destructive power at the moment when you consider that the legislators of most any party in this country are bought off and ultimately represent the people who fund their campaigns and thus will never pass certain economic legislation supported by the supermajority but opposed by the campaign funders.

In that absence of legitimate representation, I think going to the people directly to pass through the corruption is useful though it does enable the special interests to pass all sorts of other bad legislation (super-majority requirements, term limits, etc) through uninformed voters but it's not like they couldn't pass these things legislatively...

And veto referendums (citizens contesting laws passed by the legislature) aren't as bad as initiatives either I think. They seem like a good way to counter overreach (Ohio utilized this recently I believe), though I don't think it's a good idea to have veto referendums on civil rights/liberties or on judicial decisions.

Yeah, I should make clear that  I quite like Mint and we get along fairly well, I think.

abortion-- i'm opposed to all restrictions on abortion. drug war-- end it immediately. legalize and tax marijuana. decriminalize all other drugs. grant clemency to all non-violent "drug offenders". gun control-- i'm for background checks and mandatory safety locks. i'm generally opposed to everything else. prostitution-- this industry, much like the drug industry, could be safer for both the seller and their clientele if it were legalized. immigration-- i support a guest work program for current illegal immigrants and a path to citizenship. no mass deportation, border moats, or other silly things. lbgt-- i support a constitutional amendment legalizing gay marriage on the federal level. crime-- first nationalize the prison system (no private prisons) and slowly reform it into a community service system of various degrees, the most severe of which would be an arduous labor camp. i'm completely opposed to the death penalty and i don't believe that protesting in a street that you paid for is an arrestable offense. national health-- i like the idea of a flat "health tax" of 5-10% on items such as alcohol, cigarettes, fast food, and soft drinks. there should also be a national standard  by which it's determined what products are given this additional tax, so as to help companies improve their products to avoid the tax. public transit-- i support a national public transit program that works with city governments to improve the quality of local bus and rail services. the ultimate goal being to achieve universal transportation, which could add more versatility and flexibility to the economy. environment-- the most progress we've had in protecting the environment is at the grassroots, market level. it's what we buy and consume that pollutes the environment, naturally. i'm for more environmentally friendly tax incentives and funding of national environmental awareness campaign (as well as a water conservation campaign for drought states such as Texas). energy-- i agree with continuing  clean energy funding in the hopes of eventually finding a realistic, large scale alternative to fossil fuels. education-- i support nationally standardized curriculum (which would include art, foreign language, and elective physical education) and a ban on financially rewarding school districts for standardized test results. the internet-- i oppose any legislative attempt by the government or legal attempt by corporations whose aim is to decrease internet freedom. campaign finance-- i support banning corporations and organizations from donating to campaigns, individual donations only.

employment-- i support a national jobs program that coordinates with state and local governments to put the unemployed to work on rebuilding national infrastructure such as highways, bridges and the previously proposed national transit. this would be a federal program, not a subsidy to state or local government. create a variety of jobs that are easily accessible to the unemployed. favor the currently unemployed in  the hiring process. taxes-- i support a negative-income tax  that ensures a base income of 10,000$ a year to every citizen over the age of 21; this would replace all welfare and government assistance programs. i support a top earners rate of 45%. corporate tax-- eliminate all deductions and loopholes and ensure full participation. keep top rate at 35%. health care-- i am for nationalizing the health care industry and ensuring universal access. trade-- i believe in leveling the playing field and protecting american labor from cheaper, foreign competitors. i support tariffs as a means to raise revenue and believe trade should be dependent on human rights records and environmental standards. minimum wage for tying the minimum wage to inflation and raising it to 10.00$/hr. banking-- i support nationalizing the banking industry and the federal reserve,

national security/foreign policy.
i am generally for using the military in a humanitarian capacity. i would be for liberating and industrializing the african continent before i would support going to war with iran over nuclear energy, though even the former would not be an immediate priority. i am for cutting the military budget in half, mostly be reducing our presence around the world.

there are some common threads. nationalism, a leeriness towards modern democracy, anti-egalitarianism, desire for independence from international finance, anti-marxism. but classical fascism was imperialist, conflict loving, all encompassing in its goals. it criticized the democratic state for being too weak. if anything i share many of the criticisms of anti-democratic libertarians like hans-herman hoppe and bryan caplan.

then again certain developments in the west i view as undesirable (such as the bank bail outs) would be unlikely to have occurred under direct democracy as iceland and other countries have shown us. we can see also that when put entirely to a vote, a lot of modern liberalism fails. hence the modern right's love for referenda and initiatives and constant bleating about activism here in the states. i could go on about the left/liberal drive towards criminalizing 'hate speech' and enacting 'speech codes,' but you get the idea. on some level i feel that a bit of turn around is fair play.
