The pink is ice and "wintry mix" descending on everything from Austin to Houston as I type this. The green is rain all up and down the Gulf Coast.



It looks like this is going to continue until at least mid-afternoon. And since this is Texas, where the mere presence of ice anywhere on anything in any quantity is justifiable cause to cancel school and stay home from work, people may avoid the polling places too. It's supposed to be clearer in the evening, but if it remains, after-work turnout could be depressed.

If the weather results in lower than expected turnout, it could be very good for candidates like Dan Patrick and Debra Medina.

Turnout in Harris County is significantly down relative to projected figures, per the County Clerk's office.
