Well since this board is the right place for politics and religion experts I thought I'd ask haha
I think it's pretty clear Pilate was a moderate hero overall. He wouldn't even take a stance on the death penalty! He let the crowd decide whether to kill Jesus! So maybe not a social conservative, but a moderate hero in that case. He's also a flip-flopper since he obviously had to change his mind after he saw how well that went!
At the same time however he also worked well with limited government, as the king of Rome (whatever he was) he couldn't do much without help from his friends. He never tried to do anything bad unless his friends were ok with it. So, moderate overall.
So yeah, that's my historical analysis on Pontius Pilate. If Pilate ran against Jesus in an election today I think Jesus would win.
My map:
Jesus Christ/Barack Obama (Democrats) - 314 electoral votes (chose Obama as his VP because I think he's like Jesus in a way since they both support the poor!!)
Pontius Pilate/Mitt Romney (Republicans) - 224 electoral votes (Romney's there because he practices a false faith haha
)
