Would you support or oppose a state law that would allow same-sex couples to get married in Pennsylvania?

57-37 support

Do you support or oppose allowing adults in Pennsylvania to legally possess small amounts of marijuana for personal use?

48-49 oppose

Do you support or oppose allowing adults in Pennsylvania to legally use marijuana for medical purposes if their doctor prescribes it?

I'm not surprised at all about Same-Sex Marriage.

Pot, though, that's interesting. Most of the Democratic candidates for Governor support Medical Marijuana. And John Hanger supports it recreationally.

Can we please end the myth that PA is a socially conservative bastion now?

Kane's decision to not defend the gay marriage ban is looking pretty smart.

Those are encouraging results.

Just so we don't confuse it with a liberal bastion just yet on social issues! The state's name gives a clue: there's a lot of dense forest, and a lot of dwellers there. Wink

44% of Pennsylvanians admitted to having smoked weed before. That's pretty surprising.

No, not until the state officially apologizes for electing Rick Santorum more than once.

There are too many counties in the center of the state that are ridiculously conservative. I don't think in can ever be like New York for that reason.

It still is compared to the rest of the Northeast, but really only by that comparison.

If you go by state laws, yes. But those were a product of Casey Sr. from decades ago. In terms of the opinion of the populace, I doubt PA would even be in the top 20 for most pro-life states.

This wasn't enough of an apology? Sad

Well of course that's true. But so many on Atlas seem to think it's SO socially conservative, not just relative to the Northeast, but as a whole, and that a Democrat needs to be pro-life in order to win it (ignoring Clinton twice, Gore, Kerry, Obama twice, Rendell twice, Kane, Sestak who almost won even in a GOP wave, all of which were flukes apparently)

Yes, that chart is based on state laws, not opinion polls.
