I don't really read the religion board, so I don't know what others are talking about. He's actually one of my favourite posters here, despite having some big ideological differences.

For a while at the start of the year, I was starting a new thread (occasionally two) each day, which was a lot relative to the traffic on that board.  When I had some computer problems about a month ago I stopped as the saved links I used to help me in the preparation were on the old dead computer. I keep intending to get back in the habit, which is why I haven't yet changed my sig which has a link to the index thread.

I think recently he's showing a degree of social awkwardness; genuinely having difficulties in understanding real life personal and interpersonal interactions. This is coupled with a need to diffuse situations that he doesn't like by resorting to bad puns and non-sequiturs (at times of quite a probing or insensitive nature) which has become increasingly grating.

You do know that outside of the specific Thread for moderators, moderators simply engage with other mods like posters do with posters?

I like and respect Ernest and on the whole I am probably in agreement with him more often than not, at least accounting for our theological philosophies, but I agree with afleitch that there's a blind spot to him, in his reasoning sometimes, that causes him to overlook real life situations in favor of some bias for raw logic.  I wouldn't say his "method" is inherently flawed, though it does leave some to be desired in the run of his conversation skills.  I say this as a fairly socially awkward guy myself, but I try to incorporate logic as well as anecdote and even emotion in my reasoning.  That's probably the biggest difference between us.

That was definitely the most technical critique I've ever given to a person, but that's the vibe I get from reading many of his posts.  At times, they can be great.  At other times, they can be just robotic.

Why don't you try reading his threads some time before you make that judgment?

I didn't mind that the post in question had been deleted - it wasn't a particularly great post, although it wasn't an obvious TOS violation or even especially offensive - but the fact that I wasn't given any notification bothered me, especially because nine times out of ten, I wouldn't have noticed. Furthermore, at least one post that had quoted my expurgated post in full was left intact, which seemed to render the entire deletion pointless.

I do try to edit the follow-up posts, but I may miss them from time to time.  Also, it is possible I deleted yours because it was a follow-up to a deleted post, but then a following one reply to you without including the material that led to the original deletion.  I've noticed that happening occasionally after I already deleted the post in between instead of just editing it.  If it is a case of my deleting a post because of the material it quotes, I generally don't bother PMing in that case.
