I urge my fellow Senators to reconsider removing the provision in its entirety. I just completed the Troubled Teen Act and brought up DC Al fine's Small Investor Protection act entirely because of this.

If I had to give 24 hours, it would be after the start of the Senate and likely would have meant that several days would have passed because we would not have PPT to put something in a PPT slot for that length of time.

There's a little typo in there, though. We can fix that after.

I see one or two myself. Which one are you referring to?

I also want to restructure the sentence to follow provided it is retained. Because "This requirement" only applies to the second half of the proceeding sentence, not the first and I worry that such is not clear.

There was also another one somewhere's else in the text that I spotted last night.

This amendment ends in about an hour.

It is presently 5-4-0-1 with Talleyrand not voting.

Alright, on the assumption that Matt will declare this vote closed eventually, I'll introduce this amendment:

I hope that those voting AYE on putting back in the wording they just voted to remove at least recognize the irony of their position, given the subject: you change your minds now so that you wont be able to change your minds on some final vote.

I strongly object. This creates more unnecessary downtime.

Hardly unnecessary.
A presidential redraft is like an amendment, but unlike an amendment, if it passes it cannot be amended further, since it then also functions as a final vote on the legislation. Therefore it should have at least as much debate time as an amendment.

AYE ftr

sorry guys, I am having a rough time because of real life stuff.

Shua,

I support your amendment but I am concerned tht since it is a Constitutional process, that such would require a constitutional amendment to be enacted. I assume that procedures beyond those established would be fine, but I am not sure.

In fairness, some might have voted as they because of the errors in the previous wording as well as the vague reference to "This Process" at the beginning of the removed sentence, which the new amendment resolves.
