The tea party is officially dead. You can't win a MISSISSIPPI runoff against a moderate republican? LOL

CNN called it, and all I can say is, "Thank God."

Childers isn't that great and he would've lost regardless.  At least the Senate will have one less attention whore for the Paul/Cruz/Lee brood.

Rangel's approx. 300 vote margin is due to 2 adjacent Bronx precincts on the north edge of his district. Lotsa votes and he carried them with close to 90% of the vote. He's not doing that well in black Harlem precincts!

What gives? Do those neighborhoods hate Dominicans or something?

I think you're talking about Tracy Towers in the Bronx, which is a middle-income subsidized housing development.  I'd have to check the census to be sure, but I think it's heavily African-American.  This article says it has a large Ghanian population.

Espaillat's only hope is somehow Hamilton Heights votes much more in his favor than other Hispanic-Black mixed neighborhoods that reported so far.

But the Tea Party can still win in Virginia...

It's apparent that Cochran is just a better person than McDaniel. That's why he won.

LOL the pundit conventional wisdom being wrong about everything.

Hopefully Cochran remembers in his final term that it was African American Democrats who dragged him over the finish line and votes a bit more moderately.

I have a feeling this is Cochran's last run, so it probably won't matter how he votes, though it is of course extremely ironic to see black Democrats help someone from a party that's spent the last three years taking away their right to vote.

Is it too late for McDaniel to run as a third party Tongue

I'm sure he's furious.

All that out-of-state Tea Party that poured in to Mississippi was for nothing!!! Hahaha!!

Hopefully it will help Landrieu and Pryor at least that Republicans blew money here instead of there.

I'm prepared to give the republicans another gift, a rating change! Now that Tancredo has lost the Rep. nomination for CO-Gov., that race goes from Strongly Leaning Democratic to just Leaning Democratic.

I really hope McDaniel fights this and doesn't concede tonight. There was an odd high turnout among blacks tonight and if enough of the black ballots are found ineligible for breaking state law, McDaniel could win, but that's the only way he can have a comeback. Still, I don't feel comfortable writing McDaniel off yet.

Well I guess now that right-wing old white dudes are winning Republican primaries in the Deep South on the strength of black voters, we have finally entered into a post-racial society. Hooray!
