Would Arkansas congressman and potential Sen. Cotton be a dark horse candidate for president in 2016? Should he pick Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina? What would an electoral map look like with Cotton vs. Hillary Clinton, who is from the same state?

2016? Nah.

2020, assuming Hillary wins? Absolutely.

No. Maybe in 2020 or 2024, but I don't see what would make him a strong candidate

He's engaged.

But I hope so. Tom Cotton is as far right as they come.

Not this cycle, though he may get the "star freshman for VP" buzz that Rubio did.

He's too young now, but I think he'll be nationally known in the coming decade.

He looks like someone who could become a prominent spokesman for the Neoconservative wing of the GOP.  I'd say 2020 if the Republicans don't win in 2016.  As a Republican I hope he doesn't run, but that's just my opinion.

If he had been elected in 2012, I would say yes. But I think it would be too difficult for him to take office in the Senate and then almost immediately turn around and start running for president. He needs the two extra years that Obama had (i.e. Obama had between 2004 and 2008, while Cotton would only have between 2014 and 2016) to establish himself as a national player.

Then he'll implode years before the election, just like so many other rising stars.

He wouldn't run until at least 2024 for President because assuming he beats Pryor this year, as young as he is, he will want to seek re-election to his seat in 2020 and even if he didn't, 2020 would be a huge uphill climb for him. If he ran in 2016, I don't think he'd stand much of a chance either specifically in the primary where he would be framed as an opportunist. So if the far-right Tea Partiers are still doing well going into 2024, then that's his best option.
