Or the runoff if it goes to that. I would like to get people's opinion on this since I don't know at all. A lot of people are saying Dewhurst will lose, what do you say?

It's gonna kill me if Patrick really does win.

I've got $$$ on Dewhurst winning reelection to his 4th term as Lieutenant Governor, making him 5-1 in statewide elections because he has $$$$ and lots of it, including the fact that both Staples and Patterson will likely endorse the Dew tomorrow.

He'll also have outgoing Governor Perry behind him as well, look for Perry to be campaigning for the Dew in the next two months if he hasn't already.

Dewhurst 51%
Patrick 38%
Staples 7%
Patterson 3.3%

I actually don't think this one goes to a runoff... Attorney General on the other had is a lock to have a runoff.

Looks the first in a long line of TX Conservative Dem's predictions turning out to be wrong.

Dewhurst is toast, Texas will soon be ran by Dan Patrick, a true R-TX

Greatness, I did say we're going to see runoffs for Lieutenant Governor, State AG, Agriculture Commissioner and Railroad Commissioner including Comptroller.

For the runoffs, I'm taking Branch to beat Paxton for State AG.

Is Dan Patrick awful? Could Van de Putte have a chance?

Van de Putte and Patrick would be very NASTY, bitter, racially-polarizing, smear-campaigning on personal lives, etc.,

Patrick would refer to her as "The Illegal Aliens' candidate", while Van de Putte would call him "an overbearing bitch."

Badgate, Van de Putte would also accuse Patrick of fear-mongering, scaring Texans into voting for him.

She would also bring up the fact that his anti-immigrant rhetoric is going to lead to violence against Latino Texans.

Van de Putte vs. Patrick could be an upset.

The Republican Establishment does not like Dan Patrick for precisely that reason - he could create a "Pete Wilson Moment" in Texas and cede a statewide office to the Democrats.

Some of Dan Patrick's baggage has already come out. There's bound to be more. Some of it will come out during the run-off. But if Patrick wins the nomination, the Republicans could very well throw away a gimme race the same way Indiana Republicans did with Dick Lugar's seat. Even in Texas, there is such a thing as a bridge too far, and if anyone will manage to cross that bridge, it's Dan Patrick.
