Let's. He's a child. An annoying one.

Why not just use the ignore button if he irritates you?

I have. Let's see if it works. I'm told they want to ban him on AAD. Which should tell you something.

We want to banish him to the Sewer. That's a key distinction.

Hahahahaha omg, you took the time to dig up a post I made 6 years ago just for a punchline? That's hilarious, if a bit disturbing.

I know that "leave it to the sates" is usually a cop out answer, but this one issue where leaving it to the sates honestly makes the most sense IMO. I mean, I see no reason why, for example, California and Minnesota should be forced to have the same official language(s).

Most of these guys look about as "tough" as the typical Atlas poster.
This. Having some tattoos doesn't make you tough, and neither does taking a picture with some dark clouds on the background.

"Entitled" is a phrase (among others) that is attached to Clinton in a way that wouldn't be attached to other male candidates.

please get a grip on reality.

Strongly disagree (literally normal). If you think your children shouldn't be exposed to offensive content on television then you shouldn't watch such tv channels if your children are there, and if you think your children shouldn't be exposed to offensive content on the radio then you should probably listen to another station and skip Wiz Khalifa/50 Cent. It's literally that simple.

In more objective terms, FdI is the ideological heir to Alleanza Nazionale, the nationalist-conservative party born from the reformation of the neofascist MSI under the leadership of Gianfranco Fini. Honestly, AN might be one of the only examples of a far-right party that genuinely reformed itself and abandoned its nastier elements (instead of the purely aesthetic changes you see most of the time in this kind of parties when they claim to have changed). By the early 2000s, Fini was a fairly reasonable right-winger and went out of his way to distance himself from racism and fascist nostalgia. Of course, not everyone in his party as so keen on abandoning the legacy, and the hardliners split to found various fringe parties, most of which eventually united under the banner La Destra (The Right), which only won 0.65% in 2013 and has since been irrelevant.

Meanwhile, Fini's AN merged with Berlusconi's FI to form the People of Freedom. However, by the last Berlusconi government Fini had become too moderate even for Berlusconi (interestingly, one of his main criticisms was also directed at the Lega's anti-immigrant stance). Fini was kicked out of the PdL and founded his own outfit, which crashed and burned in 2013 with a paltry 0.47%. Most of the former AN establishment, however, was still part of the PdL at the beginning of the Monti government. They eventually left in 2013, after Berlusconi announced his grand return and canceled the scheduled PdL primaries. Nowadays, their claim is to be the main nationalist voice in Italian politics, which entails a very anti-EU and to some extent anti-immigrant rhetoric (but not to Salvini's extent).

I doubt seeing as how "cultural Catholics" don't go to Mass.

One can take vague pride in or maintain a vague sense of continuity with something one doesn't personally do.

No, and nor should it become more conservative.

No flipping to one, or the other for the sake of what the world "demands". That's apostasy, which enough of which has happened.

Re-posturing current doctrines is okay, but that's it.

TJ is pretty much entirely correct here.

I don't vote only on gay rights.  I almost always vote Democratic because I agree with them more than I agree the Republicans on most issues, but it certainly doesn't hurt that Democrats have been more gay-friendly.

Would I vote against an otherwise great candidate just because he or she is not great on gay rights?  Usually not, but it would depend.  If a progressive candidate was just iffy on gay rights, doesn't say anything overtly hateful, and wouldn't be able to prevent the progress of LGBT rights anyway, I'd probably still vote for him or her.  However, just as one wouldn't expect a black to vote for David Duke, I could not vote for Tony Perkins or James Dobson, even if they turned progressive on other issues.  I wouldn't vote for someone who was that bigoted against me because of my sexual orientation.

Why can't the atheist be a Republican? It would have to depend on if they're tolerant or a fedora. If they're a fedora, they wouldn't win either party primary. An antitheist atheist would lose evangelical Republicans and minority Democrats.
Could you explain what a fedora means for you in that sentence. All I understand is that Indiana Jones is a closet atheist and can't win any party's primary.

Notice, it's not "a swing state" but "the swing state" - which I think means he/she sees it as the tipping point state. Here's what that map might look like:

Donald Trump/Linda McMahon 266 EV (actually not a half bad running mate for him, come to think of it)
Hillary Clinton/Julian Castro 265 EV
Toss-up 7 EV

Green=Favorable
Red=Unfavorable
Darker shades indicate greater intensity.

Honestly, this was kind of hard for me, because I can find positive and negative in every state.
