I often use emoticons in my post but I continue to be a cool poster none the less.

As someone who played the sport at very young ages, and can still make cognitive decisions would you kindly spare me?

So I finally had a politician dream and it was about me visiting some place that said "Hillary Clinton" in cool art deco. I assumed it was her Presidential library, because there was years etched on the floor (birth year, probably college, meeting Bill, etc.) so anyways it looked pretty nice (good economic times?) It oddly reminded me of Disney's Hollywood Studios

All of the sudden I had to wake up to go to the bathroom. Wierd part is it maybe is a sign of me changing parties, which if Ted Cruz overruns the party, then I might switch sides, or continue on with my own party. I dont know. but I really wanted to see what happened next. Sad

What makes you cooler than the 1000 other D-PAs?

The fact that I lived in Hawaii for 30 years.

An interesting thing to note is that there are many "immoral" wars, like most of the Indian Wars and the Mexican American war, that, while we were clearly acting wrongly, provided benefits to the US that I doubt many people here would want to live without. I doubt anyone here would want all of America to consist of the East coast, for inastance.

If Biden became President in 2014 or 2015, his chances of running probably increase significantly. There is a chance however that the Democrats might convince him to step aside for Hillary and enjoy his two year term.

I was a little bit surprised by how bothered this news made me feel. Not many people will ever be remembered as fondly as Robin Williams will be. He was one of a kind.

The lil putana in the incident said it made her "sick" to see that.......I found that a laughable over-reaction that I wonder what you guys would do.

Why the leftist love for TR? Parker ran to his left.

Um.........

Having lost the 1904 election badly with a conservative candidate, the Democratic Party turned to two-time nominee William Jennings Bryan, who had been defeated in 1896 and 1900 by Republican William McKinley. Despite his two previous defeats, Bryan remained extremely popular among the more liberal and populist elements of the Democratic Party. Despite running a vigorous campaign against the nation's business elite, Bryan suffered the worst loss of his three presidential campaigns.

Looks like Grothman is going to win. Only candidate that could make the 6th competitive.

On a scale of 1 to Bachmann, how unelectable is he?

I'll let you decided.

I know that some of these are from left leaning sites, but I think it gets the point across.

Proposes Law That Declares Single Parenthood Child Abuse

"Women make less because ‘Money is more important for men"

Jesus christ. We just got rid of Bachmann in Minnesota only to have her return in Wisconsin.

Got another back rub from Nikki Haley.  Also for some reason Aaron Schock was marrying Joe Biden in the dream.

Agree. It is the only issue in which I am fairly left leaning, and I agree fully with Hagrid. I would prefer a national healthcare system be funded by a sales tax, and that doctors be obliged to report undocumented patients to further discourage illegal immigration.

Nothing better than being agreed with. Tongue

I didn't say anything about the government "functioning." The only place where I think the leadership criticism of a president is valid is in foreign affairs. Maybe also in communicating your proposals to the electorate (you can say what you want, but Obama really flopped when it came to telling people what the ACA actually did).

In the end, it doesn't stop government from functioning (although I still think a Bill Clinton-type figure would've done a better job negotiating Congress), but I don't think discussions on presidential leadership are worth nil.

And although Congressional leadership may be more important, my point stills stands: Right or wrong, voters look to the president for steady leadership, not John Boehner or Nancy Pelosi.

The central issue at hand is that Turkey is now a democratic country (which has not necessarily been true in the past) and that Kemalism is not an electorally viable ideology. As long as that remains the case the AKP will continue to win, because it represents the majority of the Turkish people. This is true across the entire country, as a quick look at the electoral map will show. The AKP is not a movement of backwards hicks.

In other words, despite the sincere attempts on the part of Atatürk and Kemalists to whitewash Turkey, Turks are under no obligation to conform to whatever left/right liberal/illiberal paradigm that Westerners insist on forcing upon them. That Erdoğan is generally popular and has not always been completely on board with state control over Islam does not make him some combination of Vladimir Putin and Ayatollah Khomeini. Turkish history and politics are fascinating as they are. It does nobody any good to muddle things by focusing on what this means for secularism in Europe.

Now, if we'd actually like to discuss this election rather than bemoaning the death of laïcité in Turkey, I'd be very interested in doing that.

I understand Christianity at least adequately, thank you. I've heard this all before and am perfectly clear on the distinction between repentance and non-repentance. I simply don't believe that the pastor is the one with the ability to reliably identify that distinction and believe that one should err on the side of hope.

Framed this way I'll concede that this is perhaps for the best if the pastor felt that he really couldn't have brought himself to conducting a mutually acceptable eulogy, sure, but I'd still say that's his problem, not that of the bereaved.

This, because I thought the same thing about the D-CTs.

My favorites include include D-GA, D-NY, and D-MN.  I used to like D-CT a lot, but the two of them changed their avatars.

There is no optimum amount of social equality. In fact, given that markets are in a constant state of disequilibrium, there can never be an optimum amount of social equality.

They need to have a 'friendly but pretends to be hostile for public consumption' face for cases like Israel and Egypt.
