The Party of the People, I am here today to make my case for IDS Senate.

Your candidate Sirnick is running for Atlasian President, and I have endorsed his candidacy. But enough about that, I think everyone knows me: I have my beliefs, some of which conflict, but I believe strongly in the idea of cooperative government, and my record in the Senate is nothing if not cooperative. I pushed a large amount of amendments as Senator, and I reformed our Space Program so that it targeted certain goals. As Governor of the Midwest, I rebuilt the region into one where, today, we can have court cases about hate crimes and such, and I'm proud of the legacy I built there. However, I would also be someone who is representative of the residents of the IDS, who are generally of a smaller government variety, and I am not someone who will wear down your trademark Tongue I hope you can find it fitting to grant me your endorsement. Thank you for your time.

Abstain (I like both candidates but I think that Yankee is crucial for the Senate)

I am uncertain on when or if you will hold endorsements for the Midwest Althing race but I would be interested in an endorsement.

If Cincinnatus or Polnut does not have interest in being Chair, then I'd like to run for it.

I will be officially stepping down this friday.  Unless anyone raises an objection to Polnut and oakvale as Chair, and Vice Chair, respectively, they will immediately assume the roles.

In accordance with the announcement of Cincinnatus - his resignation from the Chairmanship of The People's Party has now come into effect.

Unless there any objections, I move that Oakvale and I assume the Chairing positions by acclamation.

We will serve in the Chairing positions in an acting capacity for the next 24 hours, pending any concerns from the floor, then we will assume them in a permanent capacity.

Both Oakvale and I will speak to the convention tomorrow.

My fellow members of The People,

As there were no objections, Oakvale and myself have formally become Chair and Vice Chair of the party.

I urge all members, if they have any concerns to contact either one of us, and also we'd like to make clear, that no party survives long without discipline and loyalty, these are two issues we will be focusing on in the lead up to the next batch of elections. There are consequences to consider to some actions.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to speak to the other parties, we believe that while we may be in opposition and often competing against each other, we want it to be done in a spirit that reflects the best, not the worst of us. We saw a very strange period over the last few months, where personality trumped positions and drama overtook sensibility, some of it coming from out own midsts, Oakvale and myself pledge to end this from our end. We are always open to positive collaboration and welcome future discussions.

Thank you.

Onto other business.

Do we have any upcoming races that require an endorsement vote? I intend for this Convention to conclude by Tuesday 8 July, so any actions or activities need to be brought to our attention by then.

I thank my party colleagues for the trust they've placed in Polnut and myself in electing us Chair and Vice Chair by acclamation. I'll be brief - I want to echo what our new Chair said in that I hope our party can work to end the bitter personal dramas of the last few months and focus on substance. The last election got extremely negative in the waning weeks, not always from the candidates themselves, and I don't think it was healthy or productive for anyone concerned.

There was a recent thread asking 'what it means to be a member of The People's Party'. In that thread, I offered the simple summary that while we are not conservatives, we are, unlike our friends in Labor, not - nor do we claim to be - socialists. I think a party like that has an important role to play in the Atlasian political landscape, and if we stay united it's a role we can play well.

We are a small party - twelve members, half of those active. But while we lack hordes of party-line voters and rank-and-file members, The People's Party has always been, and will remain, a party where some of the most talented figures in Atlasia find a home. But, with a small party, things that larger parties can shrug off become vitally important. Polnut, and Cincinnatus in months prior, spoke about the crucial importance of party unity - if we stay united, we can remain a significant force in Atlasia. When we have members literally offering to write the platforms of opposing parties things quickly become farcical. I'm hopeful that these issues can be addressed in the coming months.

Finally, I'll again second what Polnut said - for a small party, and one that is content to remain a small party with little aspirations of dominating the political scene, cooperation with larger, establishment parties is a fact of life, and not something to be feared or mistrusted. At the height of our party's success, we had productive relationships with the Labor Party and our friends in the Federalist Party. Since the revival of the Party, all too often those relationships have been let decay. I look forward to rebuilding them, together.

Thank you.

I wanted to bump this considering the healthy growth The Party has experienced in the last few weeks.

I want to extend a warm welcome to all new Party members. You aren't simply joining a party. You're joining a movement. The People's Movement. Respect each other. Support each other. Love each other like you love your mothers. This is The Party of The People. We exist merely to serve The People and we are nothing without them. Treat Them well and you will be rewarded.

This is a special Party. I think I speak for all of us when I say, welcome abroad!

While we are experiencing growth at moment I'd like to take a moment to remind all members of this party that we are at our best when we punch above our weight. We must be wary of turning into some kind of heterogenous "catch all" blob, populated with zombies.
