Nice to see a conservative court on the right side of things for once...

The case hinged on the lower court finding that the bracelets in question did not convey a prurient message, plus that apparently the school's dress code did allow non-prurient messages on clothing.  SCOTUS as a rule does not overturn findings of fact.

Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

'Nuff said.

On an unrelated note, is Mary Catherine Roper the same Roper as in Roper V. Simmons?

Rather than being lazy and asking others to do your searching for you, why don't you go find out yourself? It's not exactly a difficult thing to find out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roper_v._Simmons

No, while it was quite rude, it was also quite called for.

I wouldn't normally expect to say this to someone to my left, but laws have been passed since the original crafting of the constitution, FYI.

Okay... I am not communicable disease, nor I am one of the Ten Plagues... I'm just a random dude sitting at a computer typing.
