Pretty awful, besides a couple of accomplishments that are carried over from the JFK era.

Racist
War-Mongering
Socially-conservative
Machiavellian

If that wasn't bad enough, he killed JFK's New Frontier, and he attempted to buy minority voters for the Democratic Party with Great Society programs that were fated to fail from the outset. The United States still hasn't eliminated the socio-economic cancer he left in his wake.

LBJ was vile. The second worst President after Wilson. I heavily recommend everyone read Robert Caro's biographies-just the first volume about his early life shows how cold and calculating the man was. He could give JFK a run for his money when it came to having affairs (Alice Glass), betrayed people who loved him like a son (Rayburn) and was consumed with ambition in a manner that makes Nixon look like a saint.

That's a pretty damn big thing to disregard (not to mention many other issues with the Johnson presidency).

Disgusting war criminal.

Also...other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

It's well-known that, had there been a good synthpop band in his day, LBJ might have chosen a career in music instead.

In terms of domestic policy, America's best president.

In foreign policy? The worst.

There's few politicians/historical figures that I truly hate, but I really do despise LBJ.  A horrible person.  He had virtually no redeeming qualities.  He was awful man and an awful President.

Too bad thre isn't a tape to prove he actuall said hat and tat that quote isn't just someone claiming h said that to discredit him after he was dead.

Also, he wasn't socially conservative. He was very much in favor of birth control. Also, he wasn't a war monger, he felt going to Vietnam was the only option.

He was quoted as having said this to two like-minded governors on Air Force One.  If that's not enough for you, hear the word spoken by the man himself.

If LBJ were a Republican, there's not a doubt in my mind most Democrats would have decried him as one of the most racist presidents of the 20th century.  He certainly wouldn't have the following that he enjoys today.

He was against the War in Vietnam by giving bad intelligence about the Gulf of Tonkin incident, and then expanding the US war effort?

That he was responsible for the deaths of millions of civilians and soldiers on both sides?  That somehow is trivial enough to label those who use it as a reason to vote "HP" as "haters?"

The number of lives he destroyed far outnumbered the (vast) good that he did domestically.  It doesn't even come close.

His domestic policy has saved more lives (and will continue to in the future) than Vietnam destroyed.
