When Rick Scott thinks your're city is corrupt, you know you have problems, as Hampton Florida is finding out.

The thread title is wrong.  Florida City is an actual city in South Florida.  The Florida city that is the subject of the article is Hampton, Florida in North Florida.  Please decapitalize "City" in the thread title.

Vernon, California really needs to be disincorporated.

That whole road from Jacksonville to Gainesville is full of speed traps; Lawtey and Waldo are probably worse than Hampton is. All those areas will lower the speed limit by 30 mph for half a mile just so they can station a police officer right near the signs. I hope this leads to a little bit less dickish policing.

So many NewYorkExpress threads, so little time.

So why didn't we remove his/her ability to make threads, anyway?

Most entertaining article I've read in ages. Not sure if I should laugh or be angry

People actually responded to this one, so I wouldn't raise that complaint here.

South Carolina has a law that helps keep speed traps like this from getting that bad.  Local governments are limited as to how high a percentage of their budget can come from traffic fines.  If their fines go beyond that limit, the excess goes directly to the state.  Of course, we still have places that do their best to reach that limit and there have been towns that have gotten into trouble for violating the limit.

Fair enough.

Anyway, regarding the OP, I've heard about ultra-corrupt small cities here in Utah; there was one town in Southern Utah where the son was the head of the fire department and the father was head of the police department (or something like that), and the son tried to beat the father to death for sleeping with the son's wife, and both were found to be putting their hands in the city till, so to speak.

I'm not surprised by corrupt Floridian cities.
